In Gnashville what happens is you write a song and pitch it to a publishing company. And you should not be suprised if you eventually hear a song that is EXTREMELY similar to your song on the radio one day afterwards.....
They hear something someone wrote, and then get their writers to come up with something close enough to have the original flavor, but without the horrifying notion of having to pay royalties to anyone outside their staff writers....
I recall Paramount losing a court battle a few years ago over the movie "Coming To America" with Eddie Murphy....seems the story was written by writer Art Buchwald, and Paramount was found to have plagiarized the story and had to pay Art many millions out of their corporate asses for doing so...
Well if they win that suit they are going to be one RICH person lol

Well the Matrix also ripped off the Japanese anime series, Ghost in the Shell, and Gundam, rather blatantly also.
