I just recently bought the Queen: Live at Wembley in 1986. I already had the double cd. I bought the double DVD the same day I bought AC/DC: Family Jewels double DVD.

Freddy Mercury had that audience right in the palm of his hand. WOW!

Not really true.

Freddie was a great frontman, but I wouldn't say that he WAS Queen. I think people need to give more credit to the other 3. You have to remember that it was BRIAN MAY who wrote 'Hammer To Fall', 'Tie Your Mother Down', 'We Will Rock You', 'Fat Bottomed Girls' etc. It was ROGER TAYLOR who wrote 'Sheer Heart Attack', 'A Kind of Magic', 'I'm In Love With My Car', 'Radio Ga Ga' along with many strange, very non-commercial early songs. JOHN DEACON wrote 'Another One Bites The Dust' and 'I want To Break Free'. Maybe not Queen's GREATEST songs in the case of Roger/John, but some of their biggest hits.

Brian tended to write the heavier stuff, the more rock 'n' roll stuff, wheras the majority of Freddie's songs were piano-based.

Although I don't think that Freddie WAS Queesn, I don't think they would have become as big as they did without him up front.

Shaun, Queen undoubtedly is/was a great band.

ANY band should be about all of the parts bringing something to the table.

I had a chance to see Queen live on two occassions. Both of them he sang acapella while the others took a breather. The hair on the back of my neck stood up from the notes he was hitting.

I've never had another lead singer do that in a live performance. He had the ability to make the crowd behave the way he wanted because he WAS that good. Dave can get the crowd going too, but for different reasons.

That last performance at Wembley is trememdous for a couple of reasons...yes, he and the band knew that he was dealing with AIDS and how rough it was on him physically, and 2 they had no idea that this would be their last hurrah into the sunset.

My heart goes out to the remaining members of the band because they deserve to make a wage and not just live off of the legacy of what was. If they continue with Robbie Williams or Paul Rodgers they should find a new name and not carry the Queen title. Maybe if they took a name from one of their songs or call it Freddie.

Yea, Queen were great, I would love Brian/Roger to record an album with Paul Rodgers, and I wish they would have done it BEFORE the tour. Actually, they might be planning an album, but wanted to see if they work together first.

he's not the best, but Rod Jackson of Slash's Snakepit. The guy who sang on their Ain't Life Grand. I've rarely heard a better, more emotional vocalist. Sad part is...he's probably out on the street selling crack somewhere now. Slash's Snakepit didn't sell very many albums but Ain't Life Grand is another Appetite for Destruction.

I met him in February. What a cool guy. It was the first time I'd heard his music, but I was impressed. Great guitarist, too. For him to be so friendly to people coming up to his autograph stand (it was a music festival) was awesome -- he got my respect that day, that's for sure.

Yeah, but the recent Queen tour isn't the same without Freddie.

Brian May is also one of those 'instantly recognisable' guitar players, so he is part of Queen's sound.
