This is a hard one I think I will go with Van Halen myself , I love 1984 and grew up on it but the first album was awesome and heavy.

hmmmmmm tough one they both are great i can't just pick one all though 1984 had panama on it i wouldn't say it is my favorite 'cause it was th beginning of the end for Dave and VH was the beginnng of the best band in the world....they're both really great but i'm leaning more towards their debut album

Decisions like this could literally drive me crazy!

Two rock solid monuments to Rock-n-Roll head-to-head?

    Okay, let's see...

    Runnin' With the Devil
    Jamie's Cryin'
    Eruption
    You've Really Got Me
    Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love
    I'm the One
    Atomic Punk
    Little Dreamer
    Ice Cream Man
    On Fire
    Feel Your Love Tonight

    VERSUS

    1984
    Jump
    Panama
    Top Jimmy
    Hot For Teacher
    I'll Wait
    Girl Gone Bad
    House of Pain
    Drop Dead Legs....

I'm going with VAN HALEN, both for the historic impact and the fact that it provided 11 Classics vice the 9 tracks on 1984...

But absolutely would listen to either anytime, anyplace...It's like choosing one piece of priceless artwork over another...virtually impossible!
Without DLR in the lineup, Van Halen is merely Rat Salade...

Musically 1984 is excellent, but the edge is gone, so I choose VHI

For many years I would say VAN HALEN I...now, I'd pick 1984. I didn't listen to 1984 for a while, and am Digging the FUCK out of it again.

Van Halen over 84 easily. VH1 was a much needed shot of adrenaline to the world of HardRock, when Disco was king. 1984 is musical genius though.

The only reason 1984 sold as much as VHI is because of MTV, Ed playing on Beat It, and the pop-qualities of Jump that appealed to everyone. Other than that, 1984's got nothing on the debut.

    Van Halen I.!
"With a rate of fire of over 20 rounds per second, the IMI Micro Uzi is almost as fast as Yngwie Malmsteen, and 25.4 times more musical"

I was leaning VH1, but just listened to HOP and DDLs about 20 times in a row on the way out to Detroit this afternoon... Those songs fuggin' smoke, and DDLs has a killer riff.

So 1984 for now. And since my name is Jamie, I'm sick of Jamie's Crying... lol

Van Halen, It also sold over 10 millon and that is without a #1 song. 1984 is what the first Van halen album grew up to be. Hey it also sold 10 millon but I don't like grown ups! (as much).

Can't get the opening riff to Little Dreamer out of my skull no matter how I try... But make no mistake, 1984 is nothing to sneeze at and is probably the best thing I can remember about that year...LOL
