Even though Dave was in better shape in 2002, Dave’s show was twice as good. I might be thinking this way because my seats in Chicago and Charlotte were close but not as close as we were at the House of Blues.
After 2.5 hour drive, a few Bud Selects, then because we also ate @ the HOBs, we got to Crash the Barricade. I wish I would have bought that disposable camera from the fat assed HOB male cashier who said HOB police would kick me out if I tried to use it during the show because I saw several cel-camera-phones being used.
In the Crash the Barricade line, we schooled some on the old news: Dave & Alex’ wife, the back stabbing in 1996, how good the Sam & Dave Shows were & the 5 Star effect.
After the doors opened, we found the best spot in the house. Having left the umbrella in the truck, we settled in on the right side, four steps up behind an empty floor bar.
Medusa Stone who sounded/looked like the Black Crows opened and were pretty good. The singer/lead guitarist of the 3 piece watched Dave from behind us.
As you know, the set list’s additions were Jamie & the solo stuff.
Dave rocked the House.
The Band had as good a time as the small crowd who enjoyed everything except the JD shower. Well maybe those that rushed to the front row enjoyed it. Dave enjoyed looking at my girl. He pointed at her a couple of time and even gave her the Gene Simmons tongue waggle at the start of ATBL. Oh yeah, she’s blond 5’6” in heels barely over 100 lbs.
Brian & Ray are playing the classics better & better. Man, I want to know if they can come up with something that would inspire Dave.
The only bad things I can think are how Dave & Company left us wanting more and at my girl who did not get US back stage after the show after a Roadie tapped her on her shoulder while I was leaving a leak.
I hope Dave adds Atlanta’s HOB!!!
