Black Sand is an excellent "ballad" and one of my favorite, softer, DLR tunes. 'Night Life' is my favorite.

    I love both songs.

But Black Sand is very cool.

Hagar could never put together a song like that.

Black Sand is def. weak in my mind. I guess I figured Dave could do something a little hard driven, but yet still considered a ballad. Its good. Its just not Angel Eyes "good". But cuntpared to Van Hagar... Yup. Everything Dave does is gold. Taking a shit. Picking his nose. Wiping the white crust from the corner of his eyes is FAR more entertaining to me than anything Van hagar did from 1986 and on.

LOL DLR BAND is what VH would sound like if they were still together. Perfect album. Weakest effort, but not really weak just too slow for my liking, is Bland Sand.

Not really a ballad, nice slow tune though.

    Wait a minute
    What's that I think I hear, I say!
    Baby, listen to the blues
    Hear what they say
    Listen to the blues, baby
    Hear the guitar play
    Don't tell me life
    Is just an empty thing
    Nothing but people
A whole boulevard of broken dreams
Cause I know the Night Life
    Ain't no good life
    Yeah, but it's my life

Boulevard of Broken Dreams? That sounds familiar!!!

Black Sand takes you to a secluded beach without actually going there. Nothing Sammy ever wrote does that. Sammy ballads are like watching a shitty 80's television show about puppy love.

Black Sand has become one of my all time favourite Dave songs. There's a lot of depth and soul in there. Very cool vibe. And I love the guitar. It would make a great track for one of those surf doco movies.

    Fuck I love that album.
