This is a thought I've had - Would Live8 be the perfect platform for the relaunch of Classic Van Halen? The biggest live platform since Band Aid, with the world watching.

No...the perfect platform was 8 years ago...
"Van Halen was one of the most hallelujah, tailgate, backyard, BBQ, arrive four hours early to the gig just for the parking lot bands. And still to this day is. It's an attitude. I think it's a spirit more than anything else is."
The lineups for the Live 8 shows are a piece of shit!
No one will be watching.
Thats not true, little girls aged around 8 will love to see the likes of Bon Jovi.

I sure as shit won't be watching it.
Me neither (there's no bands that really interest me), but my point is that people all over the world will be watching.
Pink Floyd have reformed for it, and they are the act that most people are looking forward to (and they will undoubtly use this as a platform to relaunch). Now picture this, Classic Van Halen choose to add their name to the line up and with the world media watching they walk on stage and rip it up for say 3 songs.
Even if they only played 3 songs imagine the headlines that would generate.
Roth Army Militia
Imagine how Roys fan base would squeal like wieners on a barbecue.
It would be great to see, but Dave is playingOriginally posted by Don Corleone

Milwaukee that day.
I seriously hope Live 8 is an overwhelming success.
I wish they could wipe out third world debt.
Then in a couple of years they could have another one
to help people in the western world pay off Visa, Mastercard,
and American Express. JK
I'll probably just watch it for Pink Floyd, Velvet Revolver and Brian Wilson. Flick back and forth every 20 minutes.
most are crap, but the London gig is stacked. Floyd will be the headline getter back with Waters, a reunited VH would not be as big as the Floyd returning I dont think...and Im not even a big fan of theirs
I'm with Pojo on this. They had all the momemtum in the world in 96'............
Roxy Music at Brandenburg Gate, Berlin that would be the deal
some of the other line ups are good I wonder if Brian Ferry
will sing I bet they can still wail they were so sharp back in the
day
From the artist listings I have heard, Pink Floyd is the only thing I would be interested in seeing. Out of ALL the bands.

I think Dave would *LOVE* to do this!
A billion of his closest friends etc...........
At this point in the game, CVH really don't have the luxury of waiting for all the stars to line up in some sort of harmonic convergence sand hold out for 'the right moment' to reunite.
If those fuckers wanna get it together, ANYTIME is the right time, preferrably sooner than later.
Totally agreed that 1996 was the best opportunity.
Scramby eggs and bacon.
LOL what makes ya think Alex has any will to do anything charitable?
The name Sammy Hagar conjures up a variety of emotions from music fans--from hate to contempt, from disgust to revulsion.

i think CVH reunion would be bigger than floyd... look at how turulant their history has been hell the VH1 countdown of biggest rivalries had dave on 2 times and numero uno was dave vs vh. if they reunited it would rule the earth stadium seat world tour baby
R.I.P Van Halen 1978-1984
hopefully God will ressurect you
"i wont be messing with you in future.the fearsome redballjets88 for fear of you owning me some more" Axl S
" I liked Sammy Hagar " FORD
I don't think Floyd is going to use this as a relaunch...I think they are going to do a one spot deal...
I suppose I could see a tour...
but really...who cares...
Van Halen with Roth at this show would be a resounding moment...don't get me wrong...but...
1. It's not going to happen...
and
2. It WON'T be nearly as big as it could have been...
spED has turned this band into an afterthought...
Live8 isn't going to have half the world watching...no fucking way...not even close....
and won't come close to Live Aid...
It won't happen of course, but a reunited CVH appearing at Live8 would go a long way to reminding a lot of people, okay not half the world, but certainly a significant number of people, what the REAL VH was and is all about.
The brothers have done a hell of a job destroying the band's legacy and reputation, and one thing a CVH reunion would need right from the start is a massive publicity campaign to rid the band of the boring, cheesey, turn-off Van Hagar tag to reinvigorate interest.
And consider this, the only 'VH' Australia has ever seen tour is Van Cherone!!!
No doubt 1996 was be the best time to do it.
Of course it would be a great platform for them. Thats why
it wont happen. Like we are ever going to get a sensible
decision out of these fucksticks ??
BABY PANA 2 IS Coming !! All across the land, let the love and beer flow !

London will far and away have the best show.
The Philly lineup sucks balls. We're all deeply disappointed that 50 Cent decided to pull out. (Too bad his father couldn't have done the same.....)
Still stuff on the wind about the Stones showing in Philly...that would be the only thing that would make the Philly show worth noting.
As for CVH.....anytime is the right time at this point. The death clock is ticking LOUDLY for EVH, both personally and professionally.
Time waits for no man....

Speaking of time....
I'm surprised that some cocksucking Sammy lover hasn't started with "It's About Time" in this thread.
It makes all the sense in the world. Which in turn means it aint happening. I try to convince myself we will see a tour with CVH. I think in the back of my mind I really believe there is no way we will see them back together. I think eddie might be dead before the band wakes up and reunites.
There may not be an ORIGINAL Van Halen tour since Mike has his head so far up Sammy's ass that he can only see...well.....Sammy up there.
I say to hell with Mike and bring in Billy Sheenan!
=V V=
ole No.1 The finest
EAT US AND SMILE
would be cool to billy in VH. However, we waited so long to see a cvh show, i would want it in it's orignal format.
If cvh reunited they would have to play some hagar NO WAY that dave,
would do that, and justifyably so, not their best mucic by far..( but
the promoters would insist on some of their most commercially
successful tunes being played)YOU DIG that is were the problem lies,

AMEN! Those are about the only one's worth watching. I think that any VH news would be overshadowed by Pink Floyd.

Van Hagar tune. To suggest that the promoters would insist
on it is preposterous, especially after that debacle of a tour.
The opposite may in fact be the truth.
