    Bart walsh or Brian young?

ive never seen a thread like this...at least i cant remember one now...\

lets face it, bart has got brian beat.

i just downloaded the whole finland concert and fuck man...ive seen probably 5 DLR performances with brian young...and this 1...just one concert with bart flew brian out of the water.

    so what do you think?

not to mention, that tour had more energy by every player than the 02 tour, the 03 tour and when i saw him at HOB 5/20....

maybe it was the first big tour in a while....maybe the 30 or 40 thousand people really bring out the best in dave...but man that show fuckin rocked

Bart's the better technical player, Brian is more versatile.

This is actually a tough comparision for me, because I think they play on about the same level. I've heard and seen plenty of video (from my Punks webmaster days) and I've seen them both live. I think in the Punks that Brian had the closer Eddie tone, and both of them played that stuff pretty much dead on.

Brett is probably right that Bart is a better technical player...he's a little cleaner than Brian. However, Brian I think may have a better feel...but this is all subjective. I DO NOT think one player smokes the other player by any means.

In reference to the Finland show, well the band is fine, but I think Dave is rusty as hell. He DEFINITELY got better as that tour went along. That's what happens when you all but quit singing, then all of a sudden "jump" right back into it.

Dave has performed with some great guitarists in his career..no doubt about it. However, at the end of the day I still think they all fall short in comparison to EVH. No matter how much we want it to happen, Dave will never find a chemistry like that with another guitarist....and he knows this. I'll never forget when the old Slawterhouse site was up and they had an interview with Dave on there. The interviewer point blank asked him who the greatest guitarist he ever played with was, and he said Edward.

Ive heard a few EVH afficiandos claim Bart is the man.
    (If that means anything)

Personally (Like BS1 said) I dont think either is so far in front
of the other. From the boots Ive heard, I think they both do
a pretty good job at copying Edward. Toss of the coin job
    really.
