Talk about a memory Cam Ward will never fucking forget...

    particularly after Lemieux retires...

and after a long and probably storied career for Crosby...

Yeah...my first start...I won in overtime after stonewalling Lemieux and Crosby!

no offense to Palffy...lmfao...but I doubt he'll be mentioned in the conversation...

Pens whoop the Islanders tonight 5-1, back to back wins after beating the Devils 4-3 in OT...

Crosby - 2 goals, one assist tonight.... Barely missed the hat trick about 4 times...

      Defense has improved big time....

      Penalties are way down....

Powerplay is really starting to click...

So the question is, are they starting to get that chemistry ??

I told you, Mario was pissed at that penalty, and now, he is one of the boys again and not an owner or whatever...

        They will do well.

Something I have noticed with new schedule, where teams play an unbalanced schedule...

It doesn't really mean too much if you are on a streak, because you could have played two of the league's worst teams 5 or six times total in 12 games.

I think we are going to have some teams crying foul every year if their division is stacked and other weaker divisions get represented by playing so many of their games with weak counterparts

i don't like schedule (other than back-to back) because we don't really know at end of year who is best regular season team.

Season is meaningless, except for rankings for playoffs. It used to mean something to finish first overall, but now...

Well, yeah, that may be turn out to be true....

The Atlantic division looks pretty tough this year, with Philly, Jersey, and both NY teams playing the Pens a shitload of games each...

I've heard a lot of people complaining about having no games against many of the teams in the other conference...

For instance, the Penguins don't play west of St. Louis this year...

Something about that just doesn't make sense...

We'll see in a couple of weeks Va...

            if they are still winning...

            I want to say yes...

I truly believe that it starts with Crosby...if he continues to be the wunderkind...the rest falls right into place...

            including Lemieux...

Yeah, that should be a good barometer...

3 more games on this road trip at Baaaaston, Rangers, and Atlanta before they head home....

              And you're right about Crosby...

While the big boys have just now started to gell, Crosby's play has been solid every game.... Great passes, scoring chances, you name it...

Not bad for a kid that still has acne....

                  Iginla is a pussy!

Last night the Canucks lost to Calgary 4-3

Game was tied, and the Canucks might have lost anyways...

But, for at least the second time in the game Iginla, dives, after Linden touched him from behind (Linden told him he was coming and he let up completely).

Iginla falls down like a Honduran soccer player!

Refs have to call dives!! They did early in season, but this is getting stupid. This may come back to haunt pussy Iginla as these tapes get circulated to refs and they don't like getting made fools of.

This play gave the Flames a five on three and they scored. What really pisses me off is that ref who called it couldn't see play!!!
he was behind Linden and only saw Jerome fall like he'd been shot from the stands.

If you don't see it, you can't call it.

                    WOW....

What a great fucking game last night, Habs at Pens, Pens win 3-2 in a shootout....

Theodore and Thibault both played excellent games....

                    2-2 though regulation and OT....

Theodore stones Recchi and Lemieux on the shootout...

Thibault stones Ryder, Kovalev, and Perezhogin.....

Then Crosby makes an absolutely SICK fucking move on Theodore, going to his backhand and goes top shelf to win the game for the Pens....

Bertuzzi's hat trick clips Red Wings

                        Todd Bertuzzi

                        Canadian Press

                        11/14/2005 12:41:13 AM

VANCOUVER (CP) - Todd Bertuzzi showed glimpses of what he's capable of doing on the ice.

Bertuzzi scoring three goals against one of the league's best goalies to give the Vancouver Canucks a 4-1 win Sunday night and hand the Detroit Red Wings their first road loss of the NHL season.

The sellout crowd of 18,630 littered the ice with hats when Bertuzzi scored off a backhand on a breakaway, beating Detroit goalie Manny Legace on the glove side, at 15:01 of the second period.

''I'm getting a little bit more puck luck,'' said Bertuzzi, who has goals in his last three games, giving him seven on the season, after going nine games without scoring.

''The chances were there and I just wasn't putting them away before. I was fortunate enough to get a handful of good chances tonight.''

Legace, who came into the game with a league-low 1.87 goals-against average, said Bertuzzi can make a good goaltender look very average.

''He's done it to a lot better goalies than me but he was on fire tonight,'' said Legace, whose 12-2-0 record is still best in the NHL.

''On the first one, he just kept banging at it. On the second one, he just made a good move. On the third one, he fired a rocket backhand.''

Bertuzzi's best game of the season couldn't have come at a better time for the Canucks. They had lost their last three games and five of their previous seven.

''It was good Detroit was the next game up,'' said Bertuzzi, who received a thunderous cheer when he was named the game's first star.

''Those are games we take very serious and they are always good opponents of ours. They are more enjoyable games. They are more suited to our style.''

It was Bertuzzi's first three-goal night since March 17, 2003, against Dallas and the fourth of his career.

The big power forward, who served a 17-month suspension for his March 8, 2004, punch from behind that broke bones in Steve Moore's neck, started the season slowly. Noted for his speed and brute strength, he sometimes played like a lamb instead of a lion, often electing to pass the puck instead of driving the net.

He shrugged when asked if the Todd Bertuzzi of old was back.

''I just beat by my own drum,'' said Bertuzzi, who followed up his 46-goal season in 2002-03 with just 17 in 63 games before being suspended in 2004.

''I do what I've got to do to get myself better. People can say what ever they want and so be it. I'll just continue to work hard and hopefully it continues to get better.''

Anson Carter also scored for the Canucks, who improved their record to 11-5-2 and moved back into first place in the Northwest Division, two points ahead of the Calgary Flames.

Pavel Datsyuk scored for the Red Wings, who were unbeaten in seven road games. It was Detroit's first lost in three games but the Red Wings 15-3-1 record is still best in the NHL.<

On Bertuzzi's first goal, linemate Markus Naslund took a shot that Legace blocked. Battling in front of the net, Bertuzzi fished the rebound off Legace's pad, then put it in the net.

Bertuzzi's second goal showed both his power and finesse. Defenceman Nolan Baumgartner hit him with a cross-ice, tape-to-tape pass. Bertuzzi skated in on goal, used his body to fight off a Detroit defenceman, then deked Legace to score.

Canucks goaltender Dan Cloutier made 34 saves, playing in his first game since suffering a concussion Oct. 29 in Denver. He looked sharp, robbing Tomas Holmstrom a couple times and making a great stop of Jiri Fischer in the third period, when Vancouver was outshot 14-1.

''I felt good out there,'' said Cloutier.

''I got some shots early to get me involved and after that I had shots pretty continually to keep me in the game.''

NOTES - The Canucks called up Josh Green and Nathan Smith from their AHL farm team in Manitoba for the game. ...Defenceman Steve McCarthy missed his second game with a groin injury. ...Richard Park's goal against Colorado Thursday was his first in 10 games. ...The Canucks head out on the road for games in San Jose on Wednesday, L.A. on Thursday and Anaheim Sunday.

back to back games are ok...but playing divisional rivals that suck 4 or five times in first 30 games is silliness

If anything, backload those divisional rivals you are likely to be battling for playoff poosition with - play those game then at end of season

                            They need to fix this

                              Scary shit...

Red Wings defenseman Jiri Fischer had a seizure on the Detroit bench late in the first period of Monday night's game against the Nashville Predators and was listed in stable condition at a hospital.

Red Wings' Fischer suffers seizure during gameESPN.com news services

DETROIT -- Red Wings defenseman Jiri Fischer had a seizure on the Detroit bench late in the first period of Monday night's game against the Nashville Predators and was listed in stable condition at a hospital.

Fischer was given CPR at the bench and a defibrillator was used before the 25-year-old native of the Czech Republic was removed on a stretcher. The game was called off with no makeup date immediately announced.

Team spokesman John Hahn said Fischer was taken to Detroit Receiving Hospital and was stable, breathing on his own and responsive.

"It looks like he's going to be OK," Hahn said.

Play was stopped with 7:30 left in the period after the Red Wings alerted officials to a problem on the bench. Medical personnel worked on the 25-year-old Fischer for several minutes and he was wheeled back toward the Red Wings dressing room.

An ambulance arrived at Joe Louis Arena and Steve Yzerman and Kris Draper skated a stretcher across the ice to where the player was being treated.

Two Red Wings players also helped escort Fischer's fiancee across the ice to the bench area.

The decision was made to resurface the ice then, and the remaining time was to be added to the second period. But the game was postponed instead.

Fischer was diagnosed with a heart abnormality in September 2002, causing him to miss two days of practice. The problem was found on an electrocardiogram as part of a routine battery of tests during the Red Wings' preseason physicals. When the result was abnormal, Fischer was given a stress test that he passed.

"There is a little abnormality, but nothing that will stop me from playing," Fischer said at the time. "It's nothing that will bother me emotionally."

He said that his heart essentially is a little thicker than normal.

"I wasn't scared about the abnormality," Fischer said. "But I was scared about not playing hockey again. That was a shock for me."

New Plan Could Keep Lemieux, Pens In Pittsburgh

                                Andy Sheehan
                                Reporting

(KDKA) PITTSBURGH The Pittsburgh Penguins may be filling up the Mellon Arena with fans eager to see Mario Lemieux and Sidney Crosby, but the team's future in Pittsburgh is still uncertain.

Lemieux has indicated that the team will move if they don't get a new arena and he has been pursuing a slots license to pay for it.

KD Investigator Andy Sheehan has learned of a new proposal that could make Lemieux’s pursuit of the slots license a reality.

In the new plan, a new arena is built with virtually no public money and the hockey team agrees to play in it under the terms of a long term lease. The old arena is torn down to make way for a slots parlor and a billion-dollar spin off development.

THE PENGUINS HAVEN’T MADE THE PLAN PUBLIC, BUT SOURCES SAY THEY'RE CLOSE TO ANNOUNCING A PARTNERSHIP WITH A MAJOR GAMBLING CASINO?? WHICH WILL APPLY FOR THE SLOTS LICENSE.

Sources say if the partner gets the license, they will agree to build the area using virtually no public money.

Under the plan, the Penguins will operate the casino but will enter into another agreement with a contractor to develop the Mellon Arena site.

County Executive Dan Onorato and mayor-elect Bob O'Connor didn’t openly endorse the new plan, but they agreed to give the penguins the development rights - making way for their application.

If Lemieux’s proposal is as strong as it is said to be, Governor Ed Rendell may be forced to live up to his word.

If someone came in with the best location, the best application and they hadn't given a dime to me or anybody else, believe me they would get the license,” Rendell said.
