I don't know about that...
But I can tell you that the coverage for the juniors bumps almost ALL other programming from the sports channels.
It is great hockey.
The Canadians aren't that much better, they just want it more.
It is inspiring to watch.

The Worst Hockey Play You Will Ever See
January 4th, 2007. The Stars lead the Oilers 5-4 with about 10 seconds left in third period. The Oilers have their goalie pulled and Dallas forward Patrick Stefan gets a clearcut breakaway from the blueline on an empty net. The rest is now hockey history.

No.
He was doing the right thing...not showboating and the ice was just horrible.
Can't blame him
The puck jumped 6 inches off the ice.
Oh yeah, we won...18 wins in a row...3 world titles.Originally posted by Full Bug

Yawn...
I want the Canadians to send 4 teams to these world championships.
Playing for gold is Canada v Canada.
And the Bronze...

Hilarious story...I wish I could find it.
The Maple Leafs are about to be all but removed from Lord Stanley's Mug!!!
They have to remove the ring for new cup winners. I think there is only one Leafs Cup left on the Treasured trophy!
Oh...such sweet justice. Well Bettman, good work.
Oh BTW, The Canucks will win by 2 on Saturday...
Not entirely accurate, but I can understand your glee....
When I went to the Leafs/Pens game on the 29th, when the game was finishing up with the Pens winning 4-1, the crowd was chanting "67"...
Looks like the ring that's been taken off is for the years 1941-53, and the Leafs had 6 championships during those years.... They only have 4 championships left on the Cup....
http://www.cbc.ca/cp/sports/070110/s011051A.html
"And for the Maple Leafs, losing the latest ring removed six championships from the Cup. Only four of Toronto's 13 Cup wins remain on the trophy, reinforcing the club's 40-year drought to long-suffering fans."
Well, my misinformation was intentional
All I know is, if Leaf fans are whining...it must be the right thing to do.
TORONTO (CP) - It's unusual to single out the winning goalie for praise in a 6-1 rout, but the Vancouver Canucks may not have been in a position to beat the Toronto Maple Leafs without a 13-save effort from all-star Roberto Luongo in the first period.
"It could have been 3-0 Toronto at that point," said Canucks captain Markus Naslund. "That's what you want from a star goaltender. He makes the saves when he needs to. That's why we're winning games."
Luongo, the starting goalie for the Western Conference in the Jan. 24 all-star game, stopped 35 of 36 shots and was named the game's first star.
"I knew they were going to come out strong and I was able to make a few big saves early," said Luongo. "Luckily we escaped with the 1-1 tie after the first period and I think we were able to build confidence after that."

The Canucks blew it open with five straight goals, four of them in the third period to break open a close affair. Daniel Sedin had a goal and three assists while Naslund, Mattias Ohlund, Sami Salo, Taylor Pyatt and Trevor Linden also scored for the Canucks (25-19-1), who got their first five goals all on the power play.
Goaltending and special teams were the difference in this game, Vancouver going 5-for-10 with the man advantage while Toronto was 0-for-8.
Bates Battaglia had the lone reply for the Leafs (20-20-6), who heard the boos from the 19,608 fans at Air Canada Centre. Most of the ire was directed at Andrew Raycroft, the Leafs goalie really getting it from the crowd late in the game. The crowd chanted his name in mockery and gave him the Bronx cheer when he stopped the puck.
"It's heartbreaking," said Leafs captain Mats Sundin, who was so disappointed in the fan's reaction to Raycroft he was driven to use expletives. "For a guy that's played his heart out, and in my opinion, had a pretty . solid first half of the season . They had five of their goals on the power play, a 5-on-3 goal, and our specialty teams, our power play, was terrible. To me, that was the big difference."
Raycroft, who stopped 15 of 21 shots, took it in stride.
"That's just the way it is," he said. "(Fans) pay pretty good money to come watch us play, and if we don't perform, they can boo all they want. And I'm obviously the main target. I understand that, and it's cool with me."
The fans had nothing to complain early on as the Leafs came out of the gates on fire and outshot the Canucks 14-3 in the first period. But thanks to a wall named Luongo, the Canucks went to the dressing room tied 1-1.
"I think the three-hour time difference, it took us a little time to get used to it," Canucks coach Alain Vigneault said of his team's slow start. "We didn't practice yesterday, we travelled the whole day. I really thought after the second period we played better and executed better.
"The first period was all about Luongo," added Vigneault. "He kept us in it and we found a way to win this game."
Vancouver opened the scoring on only its second shot of the game, Ohlund beating Raycroft glove side with a nice one-timer from the slot at 8:46 after set-up from Daniel Sedin on a Canucks power play, a goal that got the significant Canucks contingent in the crowd to its feet.
Battaglia tied it on a strange one with 6:29 to go in the opening period, the Leafs forward flubbing a shot from in-close bounced over Luongo and in.
Daniel Sedin put Vancouver back up a goal 39 seconds into the second period, ripping a wrist shot from the high slot top corner over Raycroft's glove side, again on the power play. The Canucks had two goals on only four shots on goal, not doing much for Raycroft's shaky status with Leaf fans.
The back-breaker came 4:39 into the third period with the Canucks on a 5-on-3 power play, Linden banging in a rebound to give Vancouver a 3-1 lead. The Leafs were down two men because Battaglia got an unsportsmanlike penalty for apparently yapping too much after the original hooking call on Tomas Kaberle although the Leafs said Battaglia didn't say a word.
With the crowd still unsettled and angry at the referees, Pyatt broke in alone 13 seconds later and beat Raycroft five-hole for a power-play goal, and it was lights out for the Leafs at 4-1.
Salo made it 5-1 with his shot from the point bounced in off Raycroft's glove, one the Leafs goalie should have had. Nalsund walked in alone and deked out Raycroft at 17:29 to make it a rout at 6-1.
Raycroft is just horrible!!
Shades of Cloutier.
Toronto is going nowhere with this guy.

Anyone watching the All-Star stuff? Just waiting for the Skills competition to start....
Sid does it again....
Really gonna enjoy what he and Ovechkin pull off tonight....
Danny Briere. Whooda thunkit?
He's having the year of his life! Barring injury, he'll shatter his previous NHL season high points total of 65 with the Sabres a few years ago.
All the Crosby/Ovechkin hype and he steals the show. He's gotta feel pretty damn good right now.
The NHL has to find a way to reward offence.
This business of offering extra points for an overtime win is complete bullshit.
I guess it keeps teams in the race...but if you are going to do something so asinine, at least make it help the game.
So, a win by three goals or more is worth 3 points or something.
They should have widened the ice a bit and there would be no problems with the game.
It needs a changin'
I am leading a coup.
I will have Bettman's head and give Don Cherry the commish job.
He can run it out of his bar...even if it is in Toronto..
Seriously...I know a dozen people who would run the league much better, including myself.
I wouldn't even lose any franchises, just get real hockey people in management there as a condition.
Is that not the problem in many hockey cities? I know this is a bit off topic, but I'm not sure if all the people running the local hockey team we just got here 2 years ago are hockey people or not.Originally posted by DavidFlamma

I've seen so many egregious errors from the way the game is managed, to the way the arena is run (during hockey games), to the in game entertainment. I know it's minor leagues, but I think with hockey minds behind it, it might be different.
I'm not saying I could do any better. But A) I don't know that I could do any worse, B) I know a hockey person would be able to do more.
Look at Carolina as a success story.
Jim Rutherford is every reason why they have done well.
Your owner has to see the big picture and think long term.
Too bad Bettman can't do the same.
I don't have time to go off on a Bettman rant right now.
let's just say I'm not thrilled that there are 3 points awarded for some games (2 for the "winner" and one for the "loser" WTF?) and and two for those won in regulation.
This schedule sucks ass too.
Saturday night...
I am a Hockey widow...
It only happens once in a while (really not often) so I don't complain.
My husband and 2 months old son are sitting there, cheering the Habs that are winning against the Leafs at the moment.
I don't know anything about Hockey eaven if I grew up surrounded by fans and players.
I hate it!
So I'm gonna go find something to do (and it won't be fixin' a snack for the man)...
Good Luck to all the fans!
And a reminder to all Leafs partisans; The Stanley Cup hasn't been seen in T.O. for over 40 years so it probably means that it doesn't belong there! L.O.L.

How can you call that on Koivu for tripping???????
For a 2-man advantage no less??
And then put away the whistle for the last 18 minutes?
Oh yeahhh....the Leafs have to be in the playoffs.
Let's not forget the Leafs started the 3rd with a 4 minute power play before Koivu's lame call.
Hockey could be so good right now. This kind of BS just ruins it.

Funny, I dont read the Habs crying about the loss today....
They aren't there yet...
Go Islanders!
I'm just saying, how can they call a double minor to end the second, and then call that Koivu for a two-man advantage and then miraculously lose their whistles???
Weak
Oh well, looks like the Leafs are out now too, damm Islanders....NJ played like they couldnt give 2 shits about the game, I hope they get killed in the Playoffs.....
Sweet Justice
All I know is that the sun shines a little brighter after both the Leafs and the Habs are out of the playoffs....
Indeed. At least Buffalo won't have Torontonians trying to buy peoples' tickets there..
The Habs are great.
A storied franchise with enough Cups to warrant interest.
The Laffs haven't even been bridesmaid for what is it...half a century?
How is that even possible?
Loving this too much.
AND the Canucks have a great shot at the Cup this year.
Life is good.
Whats wrong with that? Its not like Buffalo sells out every game, not even close.....With them in the Playoffs I'm sure the bandwagon jumpers will come out in full force....Originally posted by Nickdfresh
