Dave Era Beat Sam Era in Sales

I just read on an old post here on this site. Someone said Sammy era sold 20 million more albums then Dave Era. That is not true.

Dave era VH sold 32 million and some. Sammy era VH sold 21 and some. If you dont beiieve me about 6 years ago they had it on the official Warner Bros site or the official van-halen site.

Tired of people saying that Sam Era sold more than Dave era.

    Lies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is the totals from the official Van Halen site. www.van-halen.com

    Dave Era
    _________

    Van Halen 10.3 Million

    VH II 5.7 Million

    WACF 4.3 Million

    Fair Warning 3.4 Million

    Diver Down 4 Million

    1984 10 Million
    ________

    TOTAL: 37.7 million

    Sammy Era
    _________

    5150 6.9 Million

    OU812 4.4 Million

    F.U.C. K. 3.8 Million

    Live: RHRN 2.5 Million

    Balance 2.9 Million
    ________

    TOTAL: 20.5 million

Someone help me out and add these figures. I think my math is right.

    In my last post
I was wrong about the Roth Era . It actually sold 37.7 million instead of 32 million.

I was wrong with the Sammy Era, It actually sold 20.5 million instead of 21 million.

I think the more important thing is that the dave era is STILL SELLING, because it's classic...while the sam era is just a piece of 80's pop-rock-history...and by the way...a piece of shit...

Obviously Dave-era Van Halen has been selling for longer but you search Amazon for VH and sort by bestselling - you get the best of, then Dave, Dave, Dave, Dave...

Interesting that Van Horrible's studio albums sold progressively less and less - 5150 followed on from 1984, of course it was gonna sell. Eddie could have employed Gene Pitney to sing on it, it would still have sold.

To the fucking moron that made the comment about Dave era being out 7 more years...

    well...uh...no shit....

so let's compare that piece of shit 5150 to 1984...with 1984 rolling into a huge curiousity factor...as well as throwing together two groups of fans...came out in 1986...2 after 1984...and still had over three million to go to catch 1984...

    never happen...

You can stand on your laurels all you want with that 7 year horseshit...but the fact of the matter is this...Van Hagar is an inferior product...with not nearly as many fans...

I mean...only so many dudes can buy the album for their girlfriends...

    I'm a Roth-era fanatic...so who gives a fuck how many albums sell...

I don't give a shit about Sammy and the Chirelles...others do...their prerogative...if they want to watch Beaches...that's up to them...

The Sam era will never catch the Dave era. You could give Sam 700 more years. The reality is Dave is widening the gap more and more every day.

Who the hell would want to buy a copy of OU812?

Like I said..does it really matter?

Let the Chirelles talk about sales...fuck it...

The Chirelles could put out 40 more albums...and if they are lucky...they'll get close...

Well Flappo, there's a lot of speculation that those albums were remastered based on the reunion possibility...if they would have reunited...those albums would have gone through the roof as far as remasters go...

Now...with the potential of a Sammy reunion...look for the WB cash cow to throw out the rest...

Might be something to be said for a certain amount of those classic lineup sales having to due with people upgrading their classic vinyl and cassettes to CDs, but 1984 and 5150 were released within a little over two years from each other, and 1984 is more than 3 million up on 5150.

Sales figures are meaningless. 5150 outsold Fair Warning, and nobody's ever gonna tell me that 5150 is a better album because of it.

The remaster of the 6 Dave era albums also helped out sale sammy era.

I heard WB remaster all 6 of the VH Dave era, because of a potential Van Halen with Dave reunion at the time.

We should compare Dave solo albums to Sammy solo albums to see, which one have sold the most copies!!!!!!!!

This bullshit was started by Hagar hmself the little insecure prick.

My undertaning was thet he claimed Roth era albums sold during the Van Hagar as his sales.

With people moving their classic VH albums to CDs, the ongoing slow burn effect of the first six combined with the Hagar AOR abortion, more VH albums were sold during Hagars time than Roths but a hell of a lot of them had Roth singing on them!.

    Question

Just wondering when you got these #s for album sales in regards to the DDLR Era. Just 2 weeks ago heard it on the tv and radio that VH 1
is 15mil+ and that 1984 just broke the 20 mil mark and this in no way includes world sales.

Now a little story that I heard a little while ago.
On the beach down in Venice one warm "Summer Night" you had David having a drink with, believe it or not, Sammy and Gary. They were sitting there talking when one of them suggested that whomever can run out across the ocean and touch the ship that was going by would be crowned "King" of the VH "X" leadsingers. Gary, wanting to be the one to be crowned "KING" went first, but after a few short steps came back. Sammy, laughing at Gary, took off into the ocean but just like Gary before him, didn't venture to far before returning to the safety of the land. Without a word Dave took off.Right across the water he went over to the ship and back again. Looking at the other to guys he smiled when Sammy asked him "how did you manage to stay on the rocks without slipping?" And Dave's reply was

    "WHAT ROCKS?"

The moral of the story is this.
Dave was, is and always will be "KING" of the Hill. He is"DA MONSTER"

Sammy always says that shit that VH sold more albums with him than with Dave. Actually that is true. VH sold more TOTAL albums while Sammy was in the band. Whwn Sammy was in VH, they had two eras to sell and VH sold a shitload of the first 6 while Sam was in the band. Obviously the DLR era sold more than Van Hagar. Let me ask you this Sammy, how many albums did you sell solo or with Montrose? Not nearly as many as DLR era. Also, how many albums did Sammy sell after VH? Not many. Granted, Dave hasn't sold many albums of late, but he doesn't talk shit how he's the best thing since cold beer. If anyone doesn't believe that DLR era outsold Van Hagar, just go to VH's official site and do the math. I think the numbers are like 38 mil to 20 mil, almost 2:1 DLR. I could be wrong but the bottom line is the DLR era sold more than Van Hagar. VH 1 and 1984 alone sold more than 20 million combined. 5150 sold the most of any Van hagar at maybe 5-6 million. All of which came from the momentum from 1984 and the DLR era. Sammy can suck a big fat cock. maybe that will keep his friggin mouth shut. And for the record, Van Hagar Pt. 2 will suck.
