Rather difficult to do but here goes (in no particular order):
1. JUMP - Yeah, I know it probably the biggest commercial hit they ever did (because 'Right Now' doesn't count) but that song means a lot to me. Back when my father was painfully dying of cancer that tune came on the radio and to me when Roth sings "jump" he's really saying "fuck it" because in life you're eventually going to come across some bad times that you have no control over. And you might as well say "fuck it" and roll with the punches to get to what's real. Otherwise, you'll go crazy.
2. Atomic Punk - I still say this is the oddest tune they ever did. Roth sings like a post-apocalyptic bad ass who lays waste to all that fucks with him. While most in my Tang Soo Do class were warming up to Jay-Z, I was playing this practicing my kicks and punches.
3. - Push Comes To Shove - Just for the solo alone. Not one note is wasted, bloated or misplaced. Now, if only most guitar geeks could play solos like this the world would be a better place. And that tune has Roth's best singing, in my opinion.
4. House Of Pain - Been in lame arguments over this one in that Roth is singing about a BDSM/bondage brothel where I say it's about spousal abuse. "Gonna fix it so you never leave this house of pain." You tell me.
5. Take Your Whiskey Home - Californian amplified rock meets the delta blues; serves as a simple fable of what not to do when it comes to your "woman."
Having trouble whittling my favorite list down to only five.. can't do it!
How about my favorite five ALBUMS: everything except "1984" that's easy. I never bought into it and still don't own it to this day..
My 5:
On Fire
House Of Pain
Drop Dead Legs
Mean Street
Girl Gone Bad
My Five:
-Eruption
-Jump
-Running With The Devil
-Unchained
-Hot For Teacher
Reading Crazy From the Heat in four hours flat, in a cramped RV, on the return trip of a 3,000+ mile family outing to New Jersey is an enlightening experience you'll never forget.

1) Dirty Movies---just grooves
2) Where have all the good times gone---just a fun tune because its got a vibe I can't put a finger on.
3) Unchained-----would be my fave , just because it was my very first VH song i learned to play. but everyone loves it so.....
4) Beautiful girls----that riff...that riff....
5) Humans Being---sorry i know I 'll get the hate, but its such a dark, aggressive tune that has a heavy riff that contrasts with some of the lighter chord changes...its pure Eddie, but different and powerful at the same time. And they made Slammy have to work for it! If anything its the tune that made them dump Slammy.
---Honorable mention for "Runnin/Drop Dead Legs "and "Summer Nights/Runaround"----both are anthemic rockers . runaround because the production on that guitar sound just sounded great...sorry it just did.
d'oh!....its says CVH....my bad.
1) Drop dead legs
2) Where have all the good times gone?
3) Unchained
4)Beautiful girls
5) Dirty movies
worst-- pretty much anything else Slammy.

ROTH ARMY ATTITUDE
''And a fierce cry rings out across the Manhattan skyline''
- David Lee Roth 1/5/12 Cafe Wha, New York City
I usually lead any Van Halen Roth era drunken juke box bar room block with, Drop Dead Legs, it is a good mood setter, for anytime of day or night.
That is my top #1 song by them...anything else from the six pak can fall in any chronological order and find a welcome ear from me.

wow - this is tough ..
Intruder - that tune just screams to me, turn me up to 11- NOW !!!(most KA VH song imho)
Girl Gone Bad - A+ all round in that 1
Sinners Swing - friggin hot and furious fast, with stop and go to add tension and a great chorus to sing along
Drop Dead Legs - lyrics and licks in synergy
In a Simple Rhyme - the contrasts are outstanding

Hey, it seems apt to post this in here - a guy over at The Guardian newspaper (one of the big UK dailies) has just posted an article about 'Unchained'. This is great news to have VH fans in widely read media outlets. It's their second piece in a week on the band.
The article begins:
I think it is the third article I've read by this guy in this newspaper where he bigs up CVH. So kudos to him ... even though he reckons the Beatles go one better.I've written before about my conviction – disputed by many, possibly with good reason – that Van Halen are the second most important rock band ever, after only the Beatles. So I'm not going to spend time arguing for their influence.
Here's the LINK- just a short piece with an embedded live clip of 'Unchained'.
My Top 5 most kick-ass CVH tunes? Emphasis on kick ass ...

2. Sinners Swing!
