In the July issue of Southwest Airlines magazine, Spirit, Van Halen's debut album was listed as the most underrated Hard Rockin' '70s album in "The Underrated List".

Here's what they said:

"Revisionist common knowledge tells us that The Clash's "London Calling" was the greatest album of the 70's. But Van Halen's revolutionary 1978 debut was bigger, faster, stronger, and way more influential. It sold five times more copies than London Calling. It gave us "Ice Cream Man". Half its tracks still rock the radio every day in this country. Why do you think when Michael J. Fox played music from the future in Back to the Future he blasted an "Eruption" -style solo?"
