That video is a scream. I don't know which guy is which, but the dark haired one - his entire contribution seems to be pointing in the camera and saying "SAY". Although Daryl Hall got pretty much all of the recognition being the lead singer (he obviously had the better voice), I think John Oates was simply the right songwriting partner. He was most likely the music writer/director and Hall probably looked after the lyric & melody end of things.
Were they gay? Highly unlikely...
Although their music is borderline, it's quite simply 80's Pop with an underlying current of Soul.
