Al Qaeda endorses Bush

CAIRO (Reuters) - A group claiming to have links with al Qaeda said on Wednesday it was calling a truce in its Spanish operations to see if the new Madrid government would withdraw its troops from Iraq , a pan-Arab newspaper said.



In a statement sent to the Arabic language daily al-Hayat, the Abu Hafs al-Masri Brigades, which claimed responsibility for the Madrid bombings that killed 201 people, also urged its European units to stop all operations.


"Because of this decision, the leadership has decided to stop all operations within the Spanish territories... until we know the intentions of the new government that has promised to withdraw Spanish troops from Iraq," the statement said.


"And we repeat this to all the brigades present in European lands: Stop all operations."


Skepticism has greeted previous claims of responsibility by the group for attacks in Turkey and Iraq. U.S. officials say its links with Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda network are unclear.


An unrelated videotape of a man describing himself as al Qaeda's European military spokesman also claimed responsibility for the Madrid bombing, saying it was in retaliation for outgoing Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar's domestically-unpopular support for the U.S.-led Iraq war.


In a shock election result three days after the Madrid bombs, Spain voted in the Socialist party, which has since said it will probably withdraw its troops from Iraq.


"The Spanish people... chose peace by choosing the party that was against the alliance with America," the statement said.

The statement said it supported President Bush in his reelection campaign, and would prefer him to win in November rather than the Democratic candidate John Kerry, as it was not possible to find a leader "more foolish than you (Bush), who deals with matters by force rather than with wisdom."


In comments addressed to Bush, the group said:


"Kerry will kill our nation while it sleeps because he and the Democrats have the cunning to embellish blasphemy and present it to the Arab and Muslim nation as civilization."


"Because of this we desire you (Bush) to be elected."


The group said its cells were ready for another attack and time was running out for allies of the United States.


"Whose turn is it next? Will it be Japan or America, or Italy, Britain or Oslo or Australia?" the statement said, adding Pakistan and Saudi Arabia were also targets.


The group is named after Muhammed Atef, also known as Abu Hafs, a close bin Laden aide killed in the U.S.-led war in Afghanistan.

I can see where al-Qaeda would not rather have a Democratic Administration who will let them get away with MURDER!

This just goes to show you that no matter which party is in office we will always be the prime target for Terrorism.

This alone should prove to you Liberal's that the Bush Administration is on the right path of "Strike Back or be Struck Again".

It was the Clinton Admin that was in office when Bin Ladden declared war on the U.S. so there is more proof that you cannot place the blame on Bush...

I agree that we should pull out of the Middle East, but that feeling is over-ridden by the knowledge that if we do that and leave them to themselves it will only be a matter of time before our great cities are hit with Nuclear Missiles and the life you know and love so well will be altered beyond repair, and the lives lost will make 9-11 look like a fireworks show at the local park.

America being the Super Power, it is our reponsibility to do all that is in our power to ensure a safe and secure World for ALL Nations.
Just sit back and imagine what our World would be like if we had never come to the aid of other Nations in the past.

It would not be a pleasant sight or experience for anyone living in those countries. We may have even been turned into a waste land years ago....Think about it!

Clinton was a good conservative Democrat. True that no president (at least Democrat or Republican) will probably ever change how we're perceived..

However, it still it looks like there is no room today for a superpower throwing it's weight around. Whether it be the United States or any others that will emerge. What makes us a target is that our government's interference is seen as bullying to the rest of the world. We tell ourselves that we're more moral than the rest of the world because we're a superpower. But, tell me, was the USSR moral? Different culture, different system but the same problem, the lack of respect for other peoples of the world and the belief in superiority. At the same time we're seen as taking away their sovereignty in the name of a natural resource or creating more corporate exploitation.
Arrogance and greed is what it comes down to. But, the blame is not on the US alone. Rarely do you find a government without those.

You can't stop war by creating more war. The war on terror will create future wars for generations to come. When will it stop? Overall, I think that we're just continuing the same violent downward spiral into oblivion by manipulation that we've been on for centuries. We have the power to stop it (at least I believe and hope so), but the question is will we?

We are completely distracted and Big Money is winning thus far, on both sides.

Thanks Sesh, The proof is that i can't make a clear choice. My opinion is forced to change every single day at this point...I just wonder what mindset i'll have on election day because right now i simply do not know.
