No, my fantasies don't usually involve little boys in a rock group.
mine usually involve women, whips, paddles, leather wearing...etc.

    "Stupid thread" You said it!!

I am sure Dave has a son somewhere but and I am also sure that he will one day grow up thinking he can sing...."Look at all the people here tonight"...Nice one, 1,465 times later....Fast forward 15 years, DLR in concert.."Look at all the people heeeeeeerrrre tonight"

His son would turn to him and say "Dad, it's just me, you and the ghost of what you thought you were"....

If Dave had a daughter about Wolfgang's age and the two should meet, marry and have children...do you think Dave and Eddie would be able to get along at family gatherings etc?

NO! I do not have any such fantasies but sadly I must suggest this is not such a stupid thread either! Dirty Duck just got the identity wrong.

Clearly it is Edward Van Halen, not Dave, who should have been the subject of the question. Sammy Hagar promotes his tequila every opportunity he has. Michael Anthony promotes his hot sauce. And Edward Van Halen promotes his son Wolfie. Wolfie plays Guitar like a mofo, Wolfie plays drums, Wolfie plays bass, Wolfie this & that, Wolfie walks across water at easter... What the fuck is that shit all about? He's obviously promoting his son for some reason, what do you think that reason is? Fourth member of an incomplete band perhaps? I put it to you that it is Edward Van Halen's fantasy...

Not a stupid thread, just disturbing.

I think he is 14. And supposedly he is a better drummer than guitar player. I dunno about any bands of his own that he may be a part of-just that Eddie had him play a few licks with him on stage at a few shows during the last Van Hagar tour- and a lot of people didn't like that.

Sorry daone, but I don't buy into this suggestion of mere fatherly pride of his son. Eddie has really been pushing really hard on this. Way harder than mere fatherly pride.

There goes the local band theory i thought he was older 19 or so, oops.

I saw Pat Banatar here in KC a few years ago. She has'nt lost a step
and may be better than ever..Anyway...

Her daughter was 16 or 17 ? and came on the stage halfway thru the
show and Sang 2 or 3 songs( Brittany Spears like dance set stuff)
was damn good It really broke up the show and it took a couple
tunes by Pat ..........to get me back into it.

Damn my computer is playing up, I can't access it but I have an mp3 of an interview where Eddie is boasting about Wolfie playing guitar "like a mofo" and only having had four lessons and being better than him (Eddie). Eddie mentions that Wolfie has jammed with him at 5150 recording a number of tracks. He also intimates that Wolfie plays bass better than an unmentioned someone (the impression is Mikey), and also that he gave a tape of Wolfies drumming to Alex who was blown away by how good it was. In all honesty I can not remember any mention of singing ability, but somehow I remain left with the impression Eddie thinks Wolfie sings like an angel.

This shit is WAY beyond mere fatherly pride, mark my word on this.

Sorry thome, I am not trying to mislead anyone here with false rumours. These are my own oppinions based on the interviews I read and heard with Eddie HEAVILY PROMOTING his son wolfie. There is something more to it, a hidden agenda if you like, and it seems to me very much like Eddie is either trying to give Wolfie a leg-up on a future musical carreer of his own OR with Van Halen! The band already proved itself capable of a five year hiatus, so what's another five or so waiting for a grown-up Wolfie to be singer for example. I sincerely hope I am totally wrong about this.

I believe it was in a phone interview with the two dorks prior to the last Van Hagar tour that Eddie was promoting Wolfgang and saying that he plays better than Eddie himself. This is the first I have heard of him playing bass. I do recall him saying something about Alex being blown away by Wolfgang's drumming abilities... or something to that effect. I think there is a copy of that interview on this site.

So Eddie is overdoing it with the fatherly pride...its not the only eccentricty present on the last tour. I think its more that he is trying to build his son's confidence more than anything else.

Further, as an interesting fact, I have also read or heard where Wolfgang has brought Classic Van Halen to Eddie and asked him "Dad... why don't they make music like this anymore?"

Now, if Eddie is trying to kick start his son's musical career...I seriously hope he lets Wolfgang develop his own style with musicians closer to his own age group. I would love to see a second generation of genuis follow in its own right... but not as a replacement member for ANY member of the band.

A five year hiatus is not bad if you have five years to spare... and quite frankly...I am not sure they have another five years.

Also, I am not sure a grown up Wolfgang would want to be a lead singer for Van Halen... but if he did... its a given we would at least hear some of the Classic shit.

    I dunno about that Shaggy.

Van Halen is the history of rock and roll...

and David Lee Roth is Van Halen...

but do you really think they have a future?

Aside from if we got a reunion tour prior to or following a well deserved induction into the R&R HOF?

Man I don't know, but I reckon if Roth were back in Van Halen that would be massive news even in today's musical landscape. With Roth there *could* be a future, there sure aint any future for Van Halen without him. However Van Halen would benefit more from a reunion than Roth so he should stay solo I think. Bring on DLR BAND 2!
