On Autograph's album credits they thank The Mighty Van Halen.
Does anyone remember what the CVH-Autograph relationship was?

They opened for VH before they had a record deal....
I think Dave would hang around the drummer too. Didn't they go on some trips together?
Did Auto get the deal due to that opening?
Not only did Autograph open for CVH, Bassplayer Mike Anthony sang backup on the song 'Blondes In Black Cars' after Van Halen broke up in 1985...Originally posted by Steve Savicki

"Turn up the Radio" was basically the only decent tune, the rest of the set they were booed off of the stage....
Eat Us And Smile - The Originals
"I have a very belligerent enthusiasm or an enthusiastic belligerence. I’m an intellectual slut." - David Lee Roth
"We are part of the, not just the culture, but the geography. Van Halen music goes along with like fries with the burger." - David Lee Roth
What show was this?
Dave allegedly bet the drummer, Keni Richards I think his name was, $5 G that Autograph couldn't handle VH's audience. I saw them open at the Meadowlands in 1984 and if that was any indication, Dave probably won the bet.
When the shit hits the fan, close your mouth and duck.
AUTOGRAPH's guitarist had a little EVH in him....
Decent soloist........
Terrible band...................
They opened for VH on the 84 tour...my brothers told me about the Providence show, how people stood on their chairs, both birds in the air, screaming 'get off the fucking stage' as loud as they could...wish I coulda seen it!
Maybe this is what a heroine addict feels like after getting a long awaited fix, shooting up in the corner of some abandoned building and just not giving a fuck about what the rest of the world thinks...TATTOO"
But when ya really think about it, pretty much any opening act for CVH got that treatment....
Think Dave and the drummer used to hang out or something.
Yeah, those guys went over pretty bad at the 1984 show I saw. There was a huge backdrop behind them that basically covered up all of VH's stage, so you couldn't see any of it until VH came on. The effect made Autograph look like they were playing at a high school Battle of the Bands or something. Pretty inconsequential. Nobody cared, but then CVH weren't really involved in package tours per se, where the opening band could be expected to draw a sizable arena audience on their own.
Scramby eggs and bacon.
I had no idea there was any connection, but that "turn up the radio" song always sounded like Kiss covering a Slade song or some shit.
Which guitarist, there were 2 of them?Originally posted by Matt White
