There are acouple of tunes on 'Nine Lives' that I dig - but 'Just Push Play' felt directionless.

The Power Of The Riff Compels Me
I thought as an album Nine Lives was a pretty solid outing. And i love falling in love is hard on the knee's.That song oozes funk
I really love you baby, I love what you've got
Let's get together we can, Get hot
At least Joe Perry doesn't have his head up his ass all the time...
'Taken from a twitter Q&A on 12/29/11'
Q: What’s the best band you’ve ever seen live?
Joe Perry: “I’d say that CHEAP TRICK is the most consistently great band and I’ve seen them dozens of times.”
I've been listening to a lost of Aerosmith over the last fortnight - there are some chronically underated albums in their back catalogue, espeically before 1982.
I've mentioned in other threads (I think it was one about the Blizzard of Ozz remasters) that there is this cat who does vinyl rips that are out of this world. Anyway, he recently upgraded his entire recording rig and process to the point where he thinks his rips won't get any better. So one of his initial 'Final Masters' is the Rocks album and I mean holy fuck... I am speechless over how amazing this sounds.

.
'Sick As A Dog' is fucking audio nirvana... Hamilton's bass is like a fucking boot, kicking me in the chest.
I know the guy is protective of his links, but if he's sharing them on avax, which is out in the open... here's a link if you want to check it out...

And if you grab it, please don't mash it down to mp3, drag it onto your ipod and tell me it doesn't sound that good... grab a good set of cans and give that 24/96 a thorough listen... you won't be disappointed.
It's such a cliche to say "I'm hearing things I never heard before", but right now 'Nobody's Fault' just came on and I'm hearing these weird piano runs in the chorus that "i never heard before".

I reviewed 'Night in the Ruts' in the 'Album Reviews' thread recently.....
Oddly enough, that live "Bootleg" album actually seems to improve when played on crappier equipment. For one reason or another, the louder and more distorted it becomes, the better the bastard sounds, even on one speaker.

Aerosmith: New album update from Steven Tyler
Steven Tyler provided an update on the new Aerosmith album during an American Idol press conference for the Television Critics Association on the weekend.
“All of it's been written but I’ve got to lay lyrics on it and I haven’t had a lot of time,” said Tyler, reports the Hollywood Reporter.
“What I’ve listened to so far knocked me out. I know a good song and I know what gets played on the radio. I’m not that pretentious to say we’ve got hits, but we’ve got something and that’s all that matters.”
The Aerosmith project represents the first album of original music in a decade. The Boston band reteamed with producer Jack Douglas, who worked with them on some of their biggest records in the 1970s.
As for the work-in-progress, Tyler said guitarist Joe Perry is due to arrive next week so that they can continue working on music.
As for the sound of this album, Steven replied: “It’s Aerosmith, how do you hide from my big mouth?”
Tyler and his fellow Idol judges – Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson – are doing major press interviews these days to promote Season 11 of the popular talent series, which premieres January
So says the guy whose last solo single came, went, died and disappeared in such a spectacularly short period of hours that no one ever noticed it was released in the first place.I know a good song and I know what gets played on the radio.
AEROSMITH Producer Wanted STEPHEN KING To Help With Lyrics - Feb. 9, 2012
According to The Pulse Of Radio, AEROSMITH producer Jack Douglas told Classic Rock magazine that he suggested recruiting author Stephen King to work with Steven Tyler on lyrics for the band's new album. Douglas said he threw his idea out there when he was asked by the record label if Tyler needed anyone to write with. Douglas explained, "They looked at me like I was crazy. I said, 'No, I'm serious. If there's anyone who's going to inspire him, it'd be Stephen King. Steven doesn't need melody — he needs someone who's going to inspire him as a wordsmith. I don't want a guy who's just writing hits right now.'"
Reading this made me like ADKOT thismuch more.
how come VH is taking so much shit for reworking old songs, and no one calls out Aerosmith for using outside writers?
Writing In All Proper Case Takes Extra Time, Is Confusing To Read, And Is Completely Pointless.
Last week I had to correct some exam papers in Savoy.
We were about 150 teachers there. When I arrived, I was surprised with the name of one of the buildings.
Breakfast was served outside. When I met the headmaster, I asked him why that building had been named "Permanent Vacation",
and told him I was curious because it was an Aerosmith song and album title.
He told me he didn't know about it, and 5 minutes later, when I was about to head towards my appointed room for correcting,
he was listening to the song on his smartphone.
I thought that too bad that school was 200 km away from my home, because I would ask for my transfer there at once.

AEROSMITH's '1971: The Road Starts Hear' To Be Made Available On CD And Digital In April
"...a rare and previously unheard rehearsal from 1971, on CD and digital. The effort was originally
only available as a limited-edition cassette and vinyl release for Record Store Day in 2021. The
heavily sought-after RSD release quickly sold out and debuted on the Billboard 200, hitting No. 2
on the Top Hard Rock Albums chart, No. 12 on the Top Rock Albums chart, No. 13 on the Vinyl
Albums chart, and No. 19 on the Top Album Sales chart."
"The Road Starts Hear" features early recordings of gems such as "Somebody", "Movin' Out",
"Walkin' The Dog", "Mama Kin" and an early version of AEROSMITH's classic ballad "Dream On",
all of which would later be recorded for their landmark debut. Other tracks include "Reefer Head
Woman", which would later be recorded for their 1979 album "Night In The Ruts", and the track
"Major Barbara", a song that would be featured on their 1986 release "Classics Live".

Those tunes are great. Must be something to hear, that rehearsal.
This is definitely an actual live recording.... sounds like what it is.... a soundboard recording from 1971. As opposed to a remastered, overdubbed, remixed, "enhanced" piece of hybrid fakery like a lot of alleged live albums are. It just might be the first Aerosmith album I actually buy in the last 30 years or so.

Whatever.
Let me know when they release the Deluxe version of Rock In A Hard Place, complete with 5 working versions of Bolivian Ragamuffin.
I love that fuckin' album! I'd sooner listen to that than anything post-Pump.
Scramby eggs and bacon.
If they released a version of "Rock In A Hard Place" with their actual guitar players, I might listen to that at least once. As it is, it's more or less a Tyler solo album, but not as bad as his attempt at being a country singer.
I guess Kramer is out again. His tech is filling in.
Steven Tyler Confessed to ‘Crimes of Passion’ With a 16-Year-Old in His Own Memoir
Earlier this year, Tyler was formally named in a lawsuit that was initially filed in December against
unnamed defendants. The suit, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, accuses Tyler of sexual
assault, sexual battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
In the suit, Misley alleges that Tyler groomed, exploited, and sexually abused her. She reportedly
recounts several details, including how she met Tyler in Portland, Oregon, in 1973 at an Aerosmith
concert. She was 16, and he was 25. After the show he allegedly took her back to his hotel, where
they discussed her age before he “performed various acts of criminal sexual conduct,” the lawsuit
reportedly states. After that, Misley alleges, the two were together for about three years.
The suit alleges that by 1974, Tyler convinced Misley’s mother to grant him guardianship, so he’d be
able to live and travel with Misley with ease and without criminal prosecution. He also told Misley’s
mother that he’d support the teenager and help her access healthcare and education, the suit alleges,
but he didn’t follow through and instead “continued to travel with, assault and provide alcohol and
drugs to Plaintiff.” Misley also reportedly recounts how Tyler allegedly convinced her to get an abortion.
(Misley has spoken out against abortion on right wing channels.)
Tyler’s own 2004 memoir nods at several of the details listed in Misley’s suit. He details sexual
encounters with a young woman, and Rolling Stone reported the singer writes that he became the
girl’s guardian so that he could circumvent arrest while they travelled out of state. “With my bad
self being twenty-six and she barely old enough to drive and sexy as hell, I just fell madly in love
with her. She was a cute skinny little tomboy dressed up as Little Bo Peep. She was my heart’s desire,
my partner in crimes of passion,” he wrote decades after the alleged assault took place.

Well... 50 years later??? That's "a little" overdue.
