Main Offender had a bit more input from Steve Jordan directing the songs, less riffy but more structure on the singing and the band as a whole. In an interview with Tom Waits upon which Keith played on his last album, Waits said "Richards is a genius at what he does, but when working with him personally, somebody always has to be adult in the room and tell Keith what to do."

Of course, there are always rumors of Keith and Jordan working together again, but just rumors

    http://www.spinner.com/2011/04/22/ke...-new-material/

I wouldn't mind hearing a third Richards' outing. Not at all.

Main Offender was great, but Talk is Cheap is a little more better IMO, it's sharper. I have both albums,
if I had to keep one it would be Talk is Cheap.

The Live at the Palladium record that was released in between is a great live album, where Talk is Cheap tunes
    kick ass.

Take It So Hard would have been / should have been a monster Stones tune . Keef Riffhard doing what he does best .
The X-spensive Winos Live At The Hollywood Palladium is a joyous mess .The live version of " Happy " is just that - deliriously Happy . Ever watch the live video of that show ? Keef is gloriously sloppy and his enthusiasm is just infectious .
Gotta say this - I'm very , very fond of a little known Keef tune called " The Worst " . Check it out sometime .

YES! Agree 100% The Worst is one of my fave tunes ever - definitely one of the greatest from those sessions and woefully underrated!

I vaguely remember an interview with Keith where he said that is a six-string bass he's playing there.

I've had Godard's "One Plus One" for years - a must-have for Stones freaks!

For the most part it's about the making of "Sympathy for nthe Devil". A true gem,
as you can see them working in the studio, how one of their best songs evolves...

What I dig most here is the final scene, with Jagger recording his vocals frantically
while Keith, Brian, Bill, Charlie, Marianne Faithful, Nicky Hopkins and Anita Pallenberg
    woo-hoo the backings.

Finally somebody actually posted the full "master" take of "Miss You" online.

This version has never been released officially in entirety, but the album version, the 7" single, the 12" single, and the rare 8-track version were all edited from this one.....

We went to the Phoenix show on this tour. A couple of us were shooting the shit at the local country club house. I can still smell the french fries and the chlorine smell from the pool. The Stones were on tour and we better take advantage of it because those guys are getting old and this might be the last chance we ever will have to see them live. So we bought tickets and car pooled down to Phoenix to see the show. We stayed with someone's relatives in Mesa. That seems so long ago and it's amazing the Stones are still around. I forgot how much the tickets cost.

Grabbed a bunch of used Stones albums over the weekend, probably around 12 of them... I went through all of my vinyl a few weeks ago and I have no idea where all my Stones albums went.
All I had left was Beggar's Banquet, Satanic Majesties (US Stereo w/ 3D cover) and a imported Decca comp called 'Gimme Shelter'.
Was listening to the mono version of 'The Rolling Stones, Now!' and it sounded great!

I have this left over print from a project one of our corporate clients was doing a little while back. Can anyone tell me who's playing keyboards? Looks a little like McCartney sitting in, but I have a feeling it's not him. Any ideas?

Keef's book lists about every keyboard player they ever used. I know one thing - it ain't Billy Preston.

That would be Ian McLagan from The Faces. He was on the Stones tours in 1978 and 1981, as well as Keef & Woody's New Barbarians tour in 1979.

Never knew there was a video for this. Not much of a video really, and the audio is shitty, but presented here just out of a historical curiosity....

Here's an audience clip from Keef's court-mandated benefit concert for the blind school in 1979. (Obviously at least one person in attendance wasn't blind).

Not the best quality footage, but probably the only time you'll ever see "Prodigal Son" performed live. Mick and Keef did that one by themselves and then were joined by the rest of the Stones for the remainder of the show.

This one was rewritten as "Don't Be A Stranger" on the Some Girls remaster. Probably because Mick had already used the title "Lucky In Love" on his solo album.

This one is pretty much just Keef & Charlie jamming... Mick comes in a little later.
