I'd have to say the 80 track version looks more interesting. Not that I plan on buying it, because I already have all that stuff, aside from the two new songs. (which haven't leaked yet, but I'm guessing they will within the next week or so)

If you're a "casual" Stones fan who doesn't own all the albums already, this would be an excellent "cross-section" of the band which might allow you to hear things from them that you'll never hear on the classic rock station, and that the band has never played live and likely won't, even in their upcoming presumably "final" shows. Either way, you certainly can't say that "Yesterday's Papers", "You Got The Silver", or "Send It To Me" fit the mold of a typical "greatest hits" compilation. Though the latter is one of the highlights of Emotional Rescue, in my opinion. And like most Stones tunes of the era, Bob Clearmountain chopped it all to shit. But here's how it was supposed to sound.....

OK, 20 tracks per disc on the "deluxe version"..... don't suppose there's any chance they will finally put the FULL versions of some of these songs out officially? If they did that, I'd actually buy the damn thing.

    LOL! 80 fucking tracks!

The Rolling stones are 1 of maybe 2 or 3 bands I would even want to have 80 tracks from. Hell, a lot of bands didn't even last long enough to record 80 tracks, let alone 80 good ones.

Nah, I actually looked for it the other day and couldn't find it, so they must have just leaked it. But I will post it now.......

Maybe all this time they have spent in the vaults lately with their 70's archives has been good for them, since this one has classic Stones all over it? Now I'm a little sad they aren't doing a whole album

They sound very different from usual here - Charlie does above all.

Not knowing it's them I would have sworn it was Jagger solo, and certainly not the Stones.

    Very surprising to me.

I like it. They're gonna make it hard to NOT buy this set...those fuckers!

Bobby Keys is playing here Wednesday, with the great Dan Baird (of the Georgia Satellites) and Steve Gorman from the Black Crowes in his backing band. Not sure I'm gonna go, working a lot of OT next week.

For comparison purposes classic Van Halen has 73 tracks TOTAL, including odds and ends like "Happy Trails" and the "Little Guitars" intro.

But did not include "Me Wise Magic" and "Can't Get This Stuff No More", so the correct total would be 75.

Lets hope that gets closer to 100. I thought the new Stones song I heard was good. Stupid that Bill & Taylor are not on it. I swear some band's and their managment just don't give a fuck about the fans.

Charlie Watts is actually one of my favorite drummers. He does some great fills and interacts with the guys up front very well. Bill Wyman is actually one of my favorite bass players too. Then you had Keef tuning his guitar like a banjo. I tried to get his sound for years and I read his autobiography and he spilled the beans. It's banjo tuning and yeah man, it gets that famous Stones sound.

The banjo tuning shouldn't come as much of a surprise, considering Keef's earliest influences were mostly country music, before he discovered Scotty Moore, Chuck Berry, and the blues.

And he's still known to tear it up country style every now and then too. With the Stones, or with country legends like Willie Nelson or George Jones....

Oh they were supposed leaked titles for the 2000 album that Roth and Halen had made, totally BS of course. I wanted to believe it then - but some of those song names... eh, they just didn't sound VH.

This is weird... The Stones doing business with Vince McMahon???
But Vince does know a thing or two about pay-per-view...

    - The Rolling Stones will return to the stage with four arena shows in London and New Jersey this winter. The band will perform at London’s O2 Arena on November 25 and 29, and then perform at the Prudential Center in Newark on December 13 and 15. The December 15th concert, entitled One More Shot, will be televised live via pay-per-view at 9pm ET and will be distributed by WWE.

“WWE is ecstatic to bring The Rolling Stones into your living room, live on Pay-Per-View for One More Shot, the last date of their 50th anniversary shows,” said WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon.

    http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/new...-jersey-401831

Even weirder... that's David Johansen pictured in that hollywoodreporter article (unless they changed it by now).

I have just about everything the Stones have ever officially released but every hard core Stones fan knows they have tons of songs that were recorded during more of their album session that were never to see the light of day. I found out recently that one of their worst albums (probably the worst) 'Undercover' had over 18 songs recorded for it that were never on the record and that these outtakes were better than the record itself.

If Jagger is so god damn money grubbing hungry then why doesn't he release this material in affordable packaging? The 'Some Girls' reissue was quite impressive but expensive as well. I'm sure the output of their mediocre 80's material that was never released might have some gems in it.

Problem with the outtakes from the Undercover sessions is that no decent sounding boots have surfaced as of yet. The existing tapes are all muddy as hell.

Considering how there's great sounding stuff available from Stones sessions all the way back to goddamn 1963, it's very odd that only the mid 80's stuff can't get a decent bootleg release. The Dirty Work session bootlegs are mostly muddy too.

I heard Confessin the Blues on the radio this weekend. I couldn't believe it.

    Right off 12 x 5 .

Turns out it was Steven Van Zant's show.

Is that they guy Keef mentioned in his book to replace Taylor ? I'm to lazy to find it. Rory Gallagher was on the list and meet with them. But he bailed after he saw the condition they were in I think he said. Lol.

Nah I was being slightly sarcastic. The guy named Jeff who plays on that track is actually a famous guitarist.......

and I suspect he didn't want Mick & Keith to be his bosses, since he was used to doing his own thing, ever since he quit the Yardbirds. I doubt he was ever seriously a candidate for a permanent gig with the Stones.

So they hired his old bass player instead.

Hmmm... long time Stones fan, and this song is only - mehhhh...

Sounds like a Voodoo Lounge leftover. The music is generic, lacking any of the rawness and bite that Keef and company used to bring. On the bright side, Mick sounds great in my opinion (although the lyrics were apparently penned by a third grader - makes you appreciate DLR's effort on ADKOT!)

I could live without this song - it's okay in an average kind of way, but definitely not enough to make me want to buy yet another Stones greatest hits package. If they were smart, they would have hired Mick Taylor to write it - or at least lay down a memorable solo.

    I kinda like it...

Sounds more like an Alice Cooper song but it's cool...

Well, it's definitely not a Voodoo Lounge leftover.... because there's about 10 discs worth of bootleg material from those sessions, and nothing like this song is on them.

More a continuation of their last album "A Bigger Bang", which was also very good. It's got a classic 70s feel to it, which is probably the result of the Stones spending so much time in their own archives lately, between the authorized live boots, the bonus discs on Exile & Some Girls, and the concert videos from 72 and 78.

Oh.... and here's something from the Voodoo Lounge archives.....

I kinda like it. Not something I would really seek out, but great background tune when shooting some pool or something.

It sounds like Jagger solo, not the Stones...

Who can frankly recognize Charlie's drumming? The guitar sounds?

Definitely not stonesy to me, but pretty good stuff, though.

I disagree. Bigger Bang was horrible.

Sounds a bit like You Got Me Rockin.

which isn't a bad thing in itself.

I like the rawness of Keith's rhythm playing on this.

Everybody assumed that this song was about ex-wife Anita Pallenberg when it first was released. Keef has since said (in his autobiography) that it was actually about Mick!

Never get tired of hearing this one. Obvious why it didn't make the cut on Goats Head Soup and had to get a completely redone vocal before it finally surfaced on Tattoo You. But in it's original state, probably Mick Jagger's funniest vocal performance ever.......

Interesting that Mick plays the opening riff on gloom and doom. Its gotta be brutal on Charlie Watts for sure.
