    Allan Holdsworth Road Games

I don't know if he's an acquired taste or not, but damn he can shred with feeling.

    Pioneer of the oblivion scale.

Ted Templeton produced this, which means this was probably the one Eddie Van Halen was going to work on with him except he was touring South America and Allan didn't wait for him
(or something depending on if the press was accurate)Ed got Allan signed to WB records.

I like slowing this stuff down to figure out how he does it, then go to Youtube to watch some college kid knock it out like it was nothing. I then delude myself by saying that they sped it up. Quite the life I got goin.

Metal Fatigue is another great album.
dedicating to Max since I remember he was into this stuff.

Holdsworth has always sounded a bit like mathematics in action to me.

That record capped off the welcome return of Jack Bruce, which began in earnest with appearances on a couple of Cozy Powell's solo albums, then a pair of albums with Robin Trower. Soon after, Bruce was an in-demand session player, notably showing up on albums by Lou Reed and Frank Zappa.

It's also of interest to note that Road Games also included the work of Jeff Berlin, who had spurned Eddie's offer of joining Van Halen. So you have to wonder if EVH had an ulterior motive in not wishing to be involved. The situation did ruin the friendship between Ed and Holdsworth, however.
