I ran across a victim in the Dominican Republic. Expatriate American who was living the good life in Sosua, a beachside village.
He was being scammed by a criminal in Lagos, Nigeria.
I told the guy in the Dominican Republic he was being conned, but he refused to listen. Perhaps it was because he had already shelled out several thousand dollars to the scammer, and had a vested interest in proving me "wrong".
I was able to eventually get him to see the light. But not after he had lost over 40k.
Call it a lesser form of terminal stupidity.
