Due to the European trip this week, both RAW & SD are taping at the same arena tonight. Vince has said that both shows will be tributes to Eddie and that any wrestler that doesn't want to perform doesn't have to.

Not for nothing, but that shot he took to the top of the head from the steel chair (was that Friday night?...or last night?) might have something to do with it...blood clot or something...

I think he raises a point that a lot of people should be asking questions about, though. How long does the list of age 40 and under mortalities for professional wrestlers need to get before somebody does some investigating?
I actually mentioned that at DDLR.com a little while ago......

What gets me is all these wrestlers are dropping like flies and nobody cares, if this was happening in Football or Baseball all hell would be breaking loose.....
If it indeed comes out that he had heart failure, there is a good chance it had to do with steroids and drugs.....
In a March 2004 report, USA Today said that at least 65 wrestlers had died since 1997 - 25 from heart attacks or other coronary problems. Many had enlarged hearts. In five of the 25 deaths, medical examiners found that steroids might have played a role. Excessive steroid use can lead to an enlarged heart. In 12 others, coroners cited evidence of use of painkillers, cocaine and other drugs.
Steroids played a role in the deaths of several pro wrestlers since 1997, USA Today reported. Among them:
Curt Hennig, 44, died of acute cocaine intoxication in 2003. His father said a lethal combination of steroids and painkillers contributed to his death.
Davey Boy Smith (the British Bulldog), 39,died in 2002 of an enlarged heart with evidence of microscopic scar tissue, possibly from steroid abuse, a coroner said.
Louie (Spicolli) Mucciolo, 27, died from coronary disease in 1998. Investigators found an empty vial of the male hormone testosterone, pain pills and an anxiety-reducing drug.
Richard (Ravishing Rick Rude) Rood, 40, died from an overdose of "mixed medications" in 1999.
(Flyin') Brian Pillman, 35, was taking painkillers and human-growth hormone when he died from heart disease in 1997, his widow said.

A great wrestler, end of story.
This is roid destruction, plain and simple. I was fortunate to meet the guy during his release from WWF after the car wreck deal. He worked an indy show here...a friend was on the card as well.
He was a pretty short dude....working the style matches he did, carrying around arguably 35+ pounds of added muscle would take it's toll on the ticker.
It doesn't matter....he's one of the highspot hall of famers.
Vince was taken to task on steroid charges back during the last dormant stage. He lost.
It didn't matter....he's a lowlife hall of famer.
Roids are here to stay, like it or not. Some folks are afforded enhancing themselves without a three hundred and forty day work schedule. Good ol' Eddie had more than a few of those. No team doctors, no immaculate training tables, no high powered agents. Oh yeah, that's before you hit the big leagues...they have a few chiropractors and makeup artists.

The whole "Latino Heat" thing was hilarious, especially when he would call Chyna "Mommy".
I guess they taped the Raw show Sunday night, and it was pretty much a tribute to Eddie. Benoit was really choked up.
Bummer. You'd think eventually the other wrestlers would get the message and cut back on the 'roids, but I guess that would affect their earning power.

See, that's the thing that strikes me as kind of funny...the era of the big man is more or less at it's end...oh sure, there are some muscle-bound dudes running around, but more or less, fuck, I'm the same size as a LOT of the WWE talent these days (the smaller guys, true, but still...).
I think what the industry needs to look at are the guys who had great careers and didn't have roid rage, but who maintained steady diets and worked out healthy, just staying in shape.
You CAN be succesful without an extra 55 pounds of muscle added on through undesirable means...focus more on the scripts and the roles, less on the body. Not only will the mortality rate drop, but fans will probably be a lot happier, too...IMO.

I agree, the trouble is Vince has always had a hard-on for the big talentless guys, the latest one being Chris Masters getting pushed big time, yet guys with tons of talent like Christian leave because they dont get the pushes the deserve, Vince has completely lost touch with what fans want....Its the Vince show, ask him, he will tell you.....Originally posted by bueno bob

Wow, did you see Batista? I didn't hear about it til about 8:00 tonite. Where the fuck have I been? I've watched Wrestling since back when Austin Idol was wrestling and always watched the PPV's but just started watching again recently when they switched SD to Friday nights and I saw that last match with Kennedy and thought dang Eddie's gotten huge since the last time I saw him. Guerrero's passing is the result of the MacMahonization of wrestling, where wrestlers' bodies cannot handle the grueling schedule (3-4 matches per week, non-stop travel, steroids and drugs to keep up with the program, the pressure to be on top all the time, lack of rest, etc.). The industry needs to go back and have matches only on weekends and cut back on the traveling. Also, wrestlers need to have more time to rest and recuperate, and the sport needs to clean up its act (no steroids, no alcohol, no drugs).
Rest in peace amigo. Thanks for the amazing performances. God bless you and your family.

Vickie Guerrero speaks on Eddie's autopsy report
Nov. 15, 2005
After the untimely passing of Eddie Guerrero, WWE and the entire sports-entertainment community is still reeling from the devastating loss of a champion. The initial autopsy reports on Guerrero have come in. WWE.com spoke with Eddie’s widow, Vickie Guerrero, earlier today.
“It was heart failure. It was from his past – the drinking and the drug abuse. They found signs of heart disease. She (the examiner) said that the blood vessels were very worn and narrow, and that just showed all the abuse from the scheduling of work and his past. And Eddie just worked out like crazy all the time. It made his heart grow bigger and work harder and the vessels were getting smaller, and that’s what caused the heart failure. He went into a deep sleep.
As soon as they saw his heart, they saw the lining of his heart already had the heart disease. There was no trauma, and Eddie hadn’t hurt himself in any way. It answered a lot of questions. I knew Eddie wasn’t feeling very good for the last week. He was home and kept saying he wasn’t feeling good and we thought it was just “road tired.” So we thought he just had to rest. It answered a lot of my questions, too, because he was just so exhausted. She said it was normal because the heart was working so hard.
When he didn’t call me last night and the night before I knew it was for real, because he would call me every night. I miss his phone calls. I cried through the whole thing (last night).
I loved his laugh. His laugh was the best.
We just celebrated his four-year sobriety last Thursday. We just thought we had life by the handful. We thought we had it all figured out. He worked so hard to make a better life for us.
I’m just overwhelmed by how people are coming out. It’s touched my heart a lot.
Everybody was just in awe last night in how beautifully everything was put together.
All my life was wrestling. All he did was take care of them and live for that. And I don’t know what to do now.”

But the real reason for his death just makes it even more devestating.
Here was a guy who got rid of his demons (drugs, alcohol) and finally got his life together.
And look what happens. A weak heart as a result of those demons couldn't keep up with his level of training/working out and the WWE schedule.
Sad. Just very sad.
A complete shock to fans worldwide, who enjoyed, laughed and cried watching him compete, win and entertain us for years.

Some interesting thoughts from Dave Meltzer.....
I think everyone needed to cry and on a personal standpoint, I would to thank the people involved in the show last night, in particular the people who spoke from the heart about Eddy Guerrero last night.
I don't think any of them realize how much they did for all of us watching. It is a tragedy that a great wrestler passed away too young, when he had so much to give the profession.
But that is a terribly minor tragedy compared to that a wonderful human being passed away. I recognize almost everyone reading this is hurting right now, and if they aren't, I'm very sorry for you, but there many people who lost a very dear friend.
Unfortunately something like this had to happen for the whole world to realize it and if there is a such thing as him watching from above, I guess he saw it. But I also know he'd be saying, "Why is everybody making such a fuss about me. What did I do to deserve it." Maybe that sums it up as good as I can.
One thing about these tragedies and it really is the most important thing, is those children and his wife loved that man. He and his wife were childhood sweethearts and no doubt with Eddy she had the highest of highs, and unfortunately, she had to endure the lowest of lows a few years ago. There are things that most of us don't think about when the phone call comes or it's that time again. The familiarity doesn't make it easier. But, the plight of the families left behind is rarely thought about. That is the real heartbreak here, and elsewhere. And for every wrestler, and everyone in wrestling who makes decisions, try to at least learn something from this, whether it be being a better friend, or being humble, because that man had the talent of 100 people and was never arrogant about it and he did not get so good at his profession without loving to give people the kind of show that he perceived his father did
. He had gigantic shoes to fill in the ring, and he more than filled them. He had battles every day of his life with his own problems and being in a world that in many ways is the worst world to be in for someone with depression and addiction issues. He appeared to be winning the battle. He achieved things that few would have ever thought were possible for a man of his stature.
But there is a real truth here about the families left behind, and that this was not a freak occurrence but the result of bad decisions.
Most of all, the greatest thing that can happen in Eddy's memory is not watching him beat Brock Lesnar, or perform against Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko or Rey Mysterio, or tag team with Art Barr, but if somehow, somehow this is learned from, and becomes a true watershed moment in the profession, and some families are saved from this in the future.

Thank god he didn`t die in the ring on TV.
That would have given Vince a dilemma.

Not really, they just would have cut away to something else, then gone on with the show much like they did with Owen.....
I have always wondered what would have happened had Owen fell a few feet over and impaled himself on the ring post, the PPV signal would have been stopped, but I would think many in the crowd would have been freaking out.....Would have been a bad scene for sure....

I was at a meet back in...'86, '87 maybe...the match in particular was Bret Hart vs. Honky Tonk Man, right after Bret went solo. There was a slight fuck-up and either Bret or Honky missed the cue - I was right at ringside and Honky was up against the railing that separates the audience from the ring, right in front of me - Bret came down on him from the ring and missed, or Honky moved at precisely the wrong time...it happened very quickly...Bret ended up smashing his neck/chin directly on the railing, fucked himself up REAL bad. You saw it right there as Bret went down, the look on Honky's face spoke volumes...just an "OH FUCK" expression, and Bret was on the floor and wasn't moving.
Honky made a show of brushing it off and gloating for the audience, trying to "show" it up while the ref and medics were looking at Bret, but the tension was SO thick throughout the whole arena you could have cut it with a knife, and Honky wasn't gloating convincingly either...he was VERY concerned and would quit with the theatrics to look over and see how it was going with Bret...finally, Bret managed to get to his feet and nodded that he was OK to continue, and the whole audience that night...man, you could HEAR the sigh of relief, which was of course followed by the applause, and even Honky and Bret shared a bit of a momentary look at each other that spoke it all...that "You sure you're OK?", "Yeah, let's finish this up here", "OK, cool" nods. Of course, this wasn't a televised thing, but it was really neat to see EVERYBODY concerned about Bret's welfare and just token efforts made to "show" it up.
Doesn't relate to much, but I guess it was a cool story anyway, lol
