If they're not going to play the Dave/Eddie songs on this tour (which to me - being that Dave is not there, shows some class), why usem' in the bumpers for the tour? Why ride Dave's coat tails?
Oh, I forgot - these guys are tools.

They dont have a prayer to sell tickets if they dont use dave's image, or songs in the ads. Thats the truth.
"FUCK YOU, YOU FUCKIN' BITCH! WHO THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE ANYWAYS? TALK TO ME LIKE THAT? FUCK YOU. DRAG QUEEN LOOKIN' WHORE- YOU AINT SHIT. YOUR THE FRECKLE TO THE LEFT OF MY BROWN EYE. NOW GO MAKE YOURSELF USEFUL...OH, PUT DAD ON THE PHONE"
I was going to post the same thing, I JUST heard a commercial like this about a half hour ago on my way home. The commercial I heard, however, had the opening riff of "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love" from the album, and then right after it a version of Slapnuts singing it live, which made me want to puke.
Not sure who decides all this stuff. May be totally out of the band's hands. From what I heard in the past two years, Van halen is lucky to have a tour or a record deal at all.
My local station is giving away tickets and running promos...all surround Classic Van Halen songs. It's a little sickening. We all know that Dave built that name as much as Eddie did.
However: Marketing geeks like myself don't ignore an opportunity. We're sluts, not necessarily idiots.

Come on guys! Hey, we are all Dave fans here, but face it. VH with Fagar I mean Hagar were pretty damn big. They had lots of fans and sold out major arenas throughout the 80s and early 90s, so you can't say they won't sell tickets. Obviously, they managed to obtain many many fans with Sammy, but!!!!!! We can say that the VH that consited of Dave was a totally different band and one that was much much better than Van Faggot! Point I'm making is that while we all know Van Hagar was nothing compared to Van Halen with Dave, there are a billion or so people in America alone and sadly many just have no clue as to what GREAT Rock & Roll is, so they hear about this new commercialized band called Van Halen and fall in love with it. Most of which never knew of VH with Dave because thats when VH were real and not mainstream ass kissers! Anyhow, all I'm saying is that you can't say VH with Hagar was nothing or won't sell out shows this year as there are many many Hagar marks out there. True knowledgeable fans sadly are out numbered by the mindless idiots who just follow trends and never do any sort of research into the music they listen to. These mindless zombies will fill VH arenas all summer long! Hell, these arenas will each become some of the largest graveyards for a day, with all the mindless zombies and ghouls that will fill the seats to see that other band Van Faggot!Originally posted by Big Troubles

In closing VH (w/ Dave) will always be the greatest R&R band of all time, but to say Van Hagar was nothing or won't sell tickets without Dave is not true either!

PS: I know a few people that I met through the years prove my above points. They heard of VH after the 1st Hagar album went commercial and they loved it. These people all admit they never heard VH with Dave before that and a few years later when they decided to obtain some of the earlier material, they all said they liked Sammy better and that Dave's era was good, but Dave was not as good as Sammy! These idiots when questioned turned out to know nothing of Dave and VH and only were saying Sammy was better because thats the version of VH they first heard and became loyal to. No intelligence required for that kind of reasoning and no intelligence in the world can make those idiots understand logic or reasoning, so in the end Fuck them and let them live in their fantasy worlds where Sammy and VH rule. We the Dave fans don't want those A-Holes appearing at Roth concerts anyway!

When they announced here in DC they kicked into I'll Wait. WTF?
Its false adverstising. That the Van Halen way.
The only thing interesting about Van Halen.. is Dave!
Nuff said.Originally posted by Big Troubles

David Lee Roth.
BTW way Dave's "Dradle" - yeah man, I totally agree. I live in No. Va too and that adds yet ANOTHER DLR/Eddie Song 94.7 is using in their Van Hagar ads.
Runnin' With The Devil
Jump
Ain't Talkin' Bout Love
I'll Wait
Also BTW... it's "Dreidel"
I still believe that Dave is going to be on the tour in some capacity. They are still working out the details, and hence you havent heard from him and his site is blacked out.

You can see why advertisers are forced to fall back on those tunes, as despicable a situation as it is.
The Roth era is just so much more memorable. Spam's work was lamentable and forgettable. Ed marvelled at it himself in '96, exclaiming, "Fuck, it's like Sammy never even happened..."
Exactly.
I'll bet the average Joe and Jane wouldn't be able to name or even recognize a Van Hagar song when asked, but could rhyme off several of Dave's choice classics.
Why don't they use "When It's Gay", "Gayaround", "Gay Now", "Why Can't This Be Gay", and "PoundGay" for their commercials?
It would be most appropriate.
the ads here are pretty funny..they are playing actual audio of Eddie talkin about how he originally met Sammy( car mechanic named claudio)
but every other sentence is Eddie actually saying "hey man, gimme a beer"....
"i met Sammy when my car went into the garage..hey man, gimme a beer"
i think theyre playin " best of both worlds" intro in the background
I believe they will play Dave era songs on this tour no matter what they say now. They used to play about 4 or 5 on previous tours, so what the hell would they play instead?
I'd let Roth screw my girlfriend

This is so annoying that they would use Dave era van halen to sell tickets.

think again the tickets are almost gone... in they didnt even go on sale... so get over it...van halen dont need dave to sell tickets'''''''''''dave needs vh to sell tickets....just the facts fellasOriginally posted by Big Troubles

Oh really? The last I heard the "Van Hagar - Fuck The Fans Ticket Packages" were sold out. That was everyone at the links going apeshit over them. No fucking regular tickets are sold out. Check for yourself junior. They are still easily available in Vegas and that venue isn't the biggest either.Originally posted by tjvhou812

Was it KQRS or MIX 104?
My local radio station keeps promoting this Fucked up Van Hagar tour, after playing VH/Dave era songs!!!!!!!

This doesnt surprise me. Look at BOV1. They just used Dave to sell that. Whats different now ?
BABY PANA 2 IS Coming !! All across the land, let the love and beer flow !

Heard the full-blown promo just now on KQ.Originally posted by Dave IS VH

Sammy singing Ain't Talkin Bout Love and Jump. Yikes! Then guitar riffs only from RWTD. And Eruption. A lot of Van Hagar synths too, but I digress.
KQ and 93X are giving away tickets. Haven't heard anything on Mix 104 yet. VH seems to be getting their money's worth on the marketing side. This obviously has been in the works for quite awhile.
Ticketmaster is still running the AOL presale... I don't have AOL and there are a lot of other people that don't. I wouldn't say that they won't sell out until they go on sale to the general public.Originally posted by MAX

I know this tour will do good business, but its like Dave once said in 88, What's that song peanuts. 14 million monkeys can't be wrong. Well yes they can be!!"
It's the old 'bait and SWITCH' game that car salesmen use. They'll promo the hotrod chick magnet car to reel you in, and once you get to the showroom they'll bring out the Ford Escort. Spammy and the Lying Dutchmen are promo-ing Dave (the hotrod chick magnet) to reel folks in to drive their Ford Escort.
Don't fall for it, y'all!

Yeah, but they didnt employ Dave as fulltime singer. Now they are using Dave's music to promote the tour, and once again he is not the fulltime singer.Originally posted by scottvh66

They are using him once again.
WAAF is promo-ing with Hagar singing Dave/VH songs...
WBCN had a commercial this morning during Stern that was very generic...local guy doing the voice over and it was like a 15 second spot...
Maybe this is what a heroine addict feels like after getting a long awaited fix, shooting up in the corner of some abandoned building and just not giving a fuck about what the rest of the world thinks...TATTOO"
I love Dave as much as anyone, and loved Van Halen when Dave was with them. I loved Dave solo. Never saw Dave with Hagar. Yes Van Hagar is a different band, people change, people grow, music evolves...For those of you talking about ticket sales or lack of them... its not even April 3rd. They will sell out. Its a given.
WBCN is a very interesting station, they've been around for a long, long time have they not? The Led Zeppelin Boston 9/9/70 bootleg makes mention of WBCN. The Police Boston concerts back in 1979 were WBCN sponsored. But now they're strictly kiddie crap these days, right? Meaning you won't be hearing any classic rock on there.Originally posted by Daves PA rental
