This World Cup feels a bit different I think because the teams maybe had a bit longer to prepare plus the VAR thing, it seems like lots of goals from set pieces.

I guess I am getting old but this video refereeing is taking a lot of fun out of things especially for a neutral - did I not predict this would happen a while back? I think dodgy refereeing decisions are absolutely key to the success of football because they not only give a bunch of stuff to talk about but they create so much bad feeling which is hugely useful in generating excitement and atmosphere.

Think its called " water cooler " moments , where sporting controversy generates interest.
A lot of the smaller countries players havent played as many games as say a Ronaldo and like you say have had longer to prepare.

My predication for shit group stages because everyone saves themselves for the knock out phase went tits up pretty quick. Although I did fancy Croatia as dark horses to not win it but go pretty far,though if you look at their midfield its not a surprise really.
