It was great - my first time there.

A lot less sleezy than I expected and given it's #1 (we're #2) for murders in Western Europe, we felt safe wandering about late at night.

I like how the centre is so compact unlike many other cities, reminded me a little of Edinburgh.

I've been to the dam 3 maybe 4 times though not for about 7 years . I heard they had reAly cracked down on the smoking cafés and the red light district .
People had said it had really become quite tame compared to 10-15 years ago .

There were quite a few smoking cafés and pretty girls behind screens you could buy.
The SM has developed bad asthma these days and I worry about dope being a gateway drug back to tobacco. I fear a return to tobacco addiction more than coke or heroin.

We dabbled in space cakes and so on but when you are drinking too it's difficult to judge the effects.

My top tip is don't panic if you hear a crash behind you, it happens all the time as stoned people let their bikes fall over. On that point wow - a city transport system that actually works, incredibly unusual.
