In 1998, when the French football team won the WC, there were suckers who claimed it was the symbol of a multi-ethnic country, as the team was (but has always been as far as I can remember) "multicolored" (to use one of his stupidly chosen words), la-di-da, la-di-da... Chirac declared that himself: he mentioned a "Black-Blanc-Beur" nation, that is Black-White-North African. What a cunt.
That nation has existed since long before he was elected and started plundering State money (600 euros's worth of meals on a daily basis. But it's only a detail...).
Well, as far as I'm concerned, I see no particular ethnies anywhere, just fellow-countrymen/women, anyway. So I thought it was very bad taste. Old farts feeling comfortable with a widespread impression of well-thinking...
So, here is the latest front page of my fave satyric paper. They remember Chirac's tuttering... They only changed the last word: instead of "Beur", they put "burne", which means "bollock", above his dickhead.

I can't really recall if the 1994 final was a good game or not but I remember the scoreless result and then shootouts kept me on the edge of my seat.
