    THE CULT set to return

The Cult (guitarist Billy Duffy and current Doors of the 21st century frontman Ian Astbury) have signed a new management deal and are planning special reissues in 2006.

Limited gigs are being planned but no full time reformation is in the pipeline, although it will probably happen as Duffy and Astbury`s names don`t mean shit unless they are billed as The Cult.

No details yet as to what these "special reissues" will be.

Duffy is to make his acting debut as a villain in "Sin Jin-Smyth", a movie that will also feature WWE legend "Rowdy" Roddy Piper.

I always like The CULT, great riffs and straight forward rock and roll...

I'd buy remastered versions of Sonic Temple and their debut...

    Yes, this is good news.

I wish they'd make it to Sweden again, saw them kick aerosmith's ass in 89.

These are TWO great pieces of news as far as I'm concerned: no more "Doors" of the 21st bullshit, plus the Cult reunited...

The remaster of "Electric" (my fave record) in 1998 is a must, really. "Sonic Temple" remastered would sound huge.

Agree on "Electric" and "Sonic Temple".

Any word on who will round out the band on bass and drums?

    Probably won't be Matt Sorum.

Unless Weiland gets his own stupid ass in trouble again and Velvet Revolver's next project is legally "postponed".

I know their last "comeback" (pretty sure it was their last attempt), Sorum was part of the band, but was assumig he would remain with VR.

That live DVD, Astbury was horrible on ...

I agree about Ian Astbury's voice (and attitude...). No idea who could hold the drums in Matt Sorum's place, but remembering how Astbury mocked their faces in the end of 2001, I also doubt that the bassist who really made it (and did great backing vocals, at least HE sang in tune!) will join the band again.
I'm glad they announced that reunion, because I dig both the Cult and the Doors... I mean the REAL and only.
