Eddie Van Halen fired Sam Hagar in 96 and hired cherone. Swore that cherone was "in for life" and that he would never work with hagar without a lie detector test.

I think the classic van halen reunion with the diamond one is INEVITABLE.

I think that main complaint, which is valid, is why didn't he start his first show with a huge guest to blow everyone out of the water? For a first show, it was certainly very mild. Could be the in like a lamb, out like a lion theory.

"Doing the Unexpected" is more DLR Style.........which means....he might have someone on his show that will blow everyone away "Unannounced"......therefore, you need to tune in each day to find out.....cuz who knows?

DLR might bring on AVH or EVH unannounced now that he initiated the call to AVH, but I doubt if he is going to announce on his show "Hey Guys, tune in tomorrow when we'll have special guest Alex Van Halen, my former band mate will be in the studio".......

DLR's way is going to be totally spontaneous....kinda like his concert schedule....you just never know if he's going to make an appearance until the last minute.

Howard Stern was great when he was pushing the envelope and his show was unique and fresh. The problem was Howard was stuck in a rut and the world got tired of listening to the same antics over and over. How many porn stars can we really listen to and it got to where we already knew what questions Howard was going to ask. "Do you like a pocket rocket vibrator or the Hitachi Wonderwand?" I think the amusing thing about Howard Stern was he was asking all the questions we would have loved to ask when we were horny 13 year olds. Howard Stern was a horny, inquisitive 13 year old who wanked off to porn who happened to be in an adult body with porn stars as guests on his own radio show. It was all great but society and world changed and we no longer became entertained because what Howard was doing was no longer shocking. He blames the religiouse right but I think many of us have hit the oversaturation limit and want something else besides the same old naked jello wrestling.

I found Dave' show refreshing. For being the man who was notoriouse at taking over other people's radio shows and running his mouth, he let his guests talk. That really is the key to being a good host. Let the guest talk and then have the ability to play off of that. Dave has that potential. Johnny Carson was a master at that format.
