I wonder if Dave really got the gist of what the Army is though... hopefully he understood the magnitude of this place and it's diligent effort to keep the CVH torch lit.

I cringed when Dave mentioned that he even told Ed to paint his guitar the way he did, with electric tape and all. (getting the idea from the clash) To me, that is just one more thing to send Edward into a fit of anger and pushes the supposed reunion further away. I mean if he keeps talking about Ed's drug problem or how unoriginal Ed really is, then what kind of hope do we really have of a collaboration again?

Thanks BT! Like Nick said in an earlier post somewhere - I am sure DLR or at least one of his underlings is well aware of what goes on at this site. If I were a rock star and there was a web site dedicated to me with fans posting - I would check it out! Hell I would probably even post there for shits and giggles.

I have my doubts about a reunion taking place anyway - maybe when (not if) they are inducted into the RR Hall of Fame they will play a few songs.....but I really don't think anything large scale is going to happen - especially if Dave's show is a hit and Dave is happy doing radio long term. I enjoy the stories he tells about VH - the good, the bad and the ugly. And it seems over the years I have heard a lot more shit talking coming from the VH camp. But yeah - from this point on maybe Dave should take the high road on the whole feud for his own integrity - now that he has had the opportunity to jab back a bit on his own home turf.

I like Dave on the radio...

He's funny at times and pretty much sharp as a tack...

But, he's way too self absorbed and his ego is hard to take at times...

I also don't like hearing him repeat himself over and over...

In the first week I've heard Dave paraphrase lyrics from almost all of his solo albums, more than once...

And the reviews are not so great...


BTW, Howard was funny in like 1996...

I don't think he's a "cash cow" in 2006...

But saying STERN is a total radio-god is also absurd, and largely self-serving propaganda on his part. I like Stern and once would have considered myself a fan. I was even thinking of getting SIRIUS 'cause the local station that carried STERN has gone to the all-music "JACK FM" format. But I'm NOT getting a subscription for a guy I hardly listened to anyways (maybe 20-30 minutes in drive time). Yes STERN is a talent, but he's gone stale and his show has lost a lot of edginess over the years. It seems the funniest guys he has are the ones he doesn't pay much like the crank callers.

STERN is taking a huge gamble, yes it is true that SIRIUS has almost met it's initial new subscription forecast of six million, but they lost $100 million last year. And now they're paying STERN what? You do the math.

I thought so also and even posted as much in another thread. But yesterday I read an article about Stern in the new Esquire magazine (with Stern on the cover) and he pointed out that over the last few years he really had his hands tied by the station in what he could and couldn't do on the air. He said one of the reasons he couldn't do a "best of" show was that 90% of the skits he considered to be his best the station would no longer let him broadcast. He said that the punchlines to many of his jokes would get "dumped" (which I took to mean edited). He also described his new show and it sounded funny as hell. Stern in his prime WAS funny as hell. Maybe his best days are yet to come.
