The show is getting better. Guests are coming in. Dave's getting into a grove...a little repetitive - sugarfree Red Bull, I get it already. His studio friends are becoming more vocal and they're finally letting Brian get into the conversations. My opinion as a fan is that I hope the show continues.

However, if he doesn't tour for the duration of the show I'll be very disappointed. Dave, for me, is first and foremost a singer and frontman. My hope right now is that being a radio personality may further all parts of his career and that we'll see both some new music and some limited touring (was it just me or did Dave mention a country song he recorded...then backed off and said something about waiting a couple of months for it - this was on Tuesday or Wednesday's show??).

The real question about Dave's survival in the radio business remains in Infinity/CBS's hands. Were they prepared to give Dave time to build an audience or were they expecting immediate results? Are they losing or gaining advertising revenues and what time frame did they have for the show to start making some $$$? We don't know the answers to these questions so making predictions on his success based on reviews is senseless. Initial reviews are going to be mixed and if you focus on the negative then Dave will obviously look bad. Hopefully CBS has resonable expectations and confidence in Dave and they give him a legitimate chance. Otherwise, he'll be gone in short order to be replaced, I'm sure, by some Stern clone who'll likely appeal more to the masses in the short term. Trouble is I don't think these types will have the longevity that Dave will have if given the chance to mature as a radio personality.

        Roth Radio a success

        Yo

People are looking at Roth Radio all wrong. I hear other talk show guys bash Roth saying his show is weak, there aren't any good guests--and then these same hosts go on to whip my ass with fart jokes, in studio strippers(is that good radio??), and one local Dallas guy wasted 15 Minutes talking about his income tax return and crying that he should get more $$ back.

It's hypocritical, and the people that criticize Roth are either worse, or have been just as guilty as Roth in some of his rookie blunders.

The critical fans have been so drugged up on brainless morning radio, that they can't see the greatness. You feed a person Spam for long enought, and they won't appreciate a steak.

There are issues with the show, but each one gets bettr and better..keep it up.

Unfortunately, I don't get to hear too many of Dave's shows.

But the ones I have heard recently still sound "forced" and a bit stilted.

I sense that he's just firing questions machine-gun style at his guests based on a pre-interview done by his producer(s), as opposed to asking questions he really wants the answers to.

But again...I haven't heard enough to truly judge.

            Roth on.

Thanks, DG. I received the information about the Radio Creative Consultant position being filled yesterday from a very reliable source (and good friend of DLR's) through some research supplied to me by someone I work with. My co-worker previously worked with SAG/AFTRA and is seasoned in the entertainment industry.

This associate/friend of DLR has worked with him for years and has been streaming his show like many of us and indicated that without a Creative Consultant for the show, it is very difficult for the Host to carry the entire show himself, let alone, without a co-host to bounce off opinions and conversations with. (much like Howard bounces his opinions with Robin and Artie)

As it was pointed out to me, DLR's "radio posse" are brand new to this media without the experience. Hutch is experienced, but his role is not tied into any Creative Consulting - it's more of the technical role with the music and background sounds.

It seems to make alot of sense after listening to Dave this past week. He now announces who will be calling in at a certain time, therefore, you know the upcoming topic of discussion, etc. A Creative Consultant is definitely working behind the scenes to help the Groove of the show at this point.

BTW...DLR's friend liked the idea of ours for the STAR Project, but felt the timing right now would be a challenge, since DLR's mgmt. is busy with refining his radio show and no time for extracurricular projects like ours. I will put this on the back burner for now and stay optimistic to pursue it at a later timeframe, but hopefully this year. It's ALL GOOD.

I thought he did well talking to the author of that Vegas book. He asked excellent questions and got some great info. from the guy.

Dave always sounds genuinely interested in what his guests are talking about. The same with random callers. He loves learning about people and what they do and what they think. That makes for great discussion, IMO.

I was at Casino Rama for the show. Casino crowds are often kinda fucked! With in/out privileges to the Casino floor and guests with free tickets you get a lot of bored people wandering in and out. I thought the show was great. Do a thread search for Rama and you'll find other threads that discuss it. It was popular with DLRArmy folks, I can tell you that. Oh, there's a full audio recording out there somewhere as well. Can't remember if I downloaded it from here or from jamtothis.com. Great recording and worth a download if you're a fan.

Oh, and there was a lot of dope smoking going on at Rama as well...just that most of it happened outside before the show.

I love the show now then ever before. Its great that he has different people in there joining him. Today Brian Young chimed in lots of times and he had good points.
I sure hope this show lasts forever.

How do they determine ratings?? Is there a way we can help boost ratings? I mean I listen everyday, does that help ratings or has no effect?
