Before you get too caught up in the numbers... count registered users for the real numbers. At any given time there can be hundreds of Yahoo or Google spiders tapping into the threads as guests.
Given where this site sits when you search on David Lee Roth in the top 5 it's a big target for the spiders based on the search engine companies approach to building their search algorithms.
At the moment there are 74 registered users here and 442 guests. 90% of those guests are web search spiders not real humans.
