    Favourite Non-rock albums

What are your favourite non-rock albums of all time?

I love "Better Days" and "Hearts of Stone" by Southside Johnny.

"Whats Goin' On?" by Marvin Gaye, and just about any Motown album.

I've always liked "Youthquake" and "Nukleopatra" by Dead or Alive.

"Introducing the Hardline According to Terence Trent D'arby" is one I've grown up with.

Jools Holland's Rhythm and Blues Orchestra albums are very good.

I love the Blues Brothers soundtracks and live albums.

And, with me growing up with my mum playing his records constantly, I've kinda grown up liking Michael Jackson.

From the top of my head:

Funkadelic/Parliament/George Clinton "The Clones Of Dr. Funkenstein" and "Mothership Connection"
Daft Punk's "Discovery" gets a lot of airtime on my CD player.
    Abba "Visitors", "Voulez-Vous", "Super Trouper"
    Prince "1999", The Batman OST
    Roxette's "Look Sharp!"
Michael Jackson "Off The Wall", "Thriller", "Bad" and "Dangerous"
Kid Creole & The Coconuts "Fresh Fruit In Foreign Places"
Why settle for something you have, if it's not as good as something you're out to get?

    Fuck yeah!!!

I LOVE N.W.A. and Eazy-E. I've actually posted threads about them in here in the past.

Also, a lot of Duran Duran's tunes are cool but I'd still put them into the R&R genre.

Shit, this thread 'tis beyond difficult for me cos I love sooooooo many types of music. Well, except opera.

If anyone likes country, you should check out Dwight Yoakam's "This Time" from the early 90's. I saw him when he toured behind it as well. Fuckin' stellar album.

So, that's one that's NOT rock that immediately stands out as one of my all time faves.

Also and I've mentioned it a gazillion times, I fucking LOVE The "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack. That one 'tis most definitely a "desert island" album for me.

there are a lot of fantastic choices above, i'd agree with pretty much everything

to my ears the best pop record that's been released in the last few years is the scissors sisters self titled debut album

never mind the fact that they're a bunch of shirt lifters they know how to write a killer song and there's not one duff one on the album, just about everything could be a hit single

I gave them a go, but I can't forgive them for that godawful version of "Comfortably Numb".

Anything by Johnny Cash on Sun, Columbia, or American Recordings. His 80's stuff on Mercury wasn't that good, so thank God he was back in proper form for a few years before he left us.
