Hank Williams, Jr. and Lynard Skynard live at the St. Charles Family Arena
    6/16/07

Order of apprearance: Chris Janson, Lynard Skynard, Bocephus

    Hank Williams, Jr.
    Set list(in no particular order):

    Women I’ve Never Had(opener)
All My Rowdy Friends (Are Comin’ Over Tonight)
    Dinosaur
That’s How We Do It In Dixie
    Bluesman
    Kawliga
    Stir It Up
    A Country Boy Can Survive
    Born To Boogie
    Whiskey Bent And Hellbound
    Your Cheatin’ Heart
    Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On
    Family Tradition
If Heaven Ain’t A Lot Like Dixie
    Walk The Line
    LaGrange
    Cat Scratch Fever
    Walk This Way
If You Don’t Like Hank Williams

Chris Janson opened up and kicked the night off right. He’s a local boi from Sullivan, MO. His band was cookin’ and the best song I heard was somethin’ along the lines of,”I’m A Hillbilly Rockabilly Honky Tonkin’ Freak.” Janson was energetic and played some feverish harmonica on this track.

Next up was Lynard Skynard. They played approximately 90 minutes of the hits. I was surprised a how much I liked them. Initially, I was skeptical, thinking that this band was like The Beach Boys…not much of the original band but they definitely had the spirit of Lynard Skynard onstage with them. The three guitarists attack was heavy. You can’t deny those hits, those riffs….those words…after they finished up their set, I was even thinkin’,”Hank’s got his work cut out for him,”…

And then Hank Williams, Jr. walked onstage and just tore the motherfucker up. Like it was second nature. His band was cookin’ with gas!! The pot was on high!! He played an awe-inspiring set…there were a few tunes I’d had liked to hear...but I can’t complain—he played electric tunes, an acoustic set, and a piano medley. He meant business. Real old school. The whole arena sang along with almost every tune. “Dinasaur,” was a surprise. “Walk The Line,” was tremendous. “Family Tradition,” was a barn-burner. A real gutbucket blues rock, country, rhythm and blues roof raisin’ boogie woogie!! “Kaw-Liga,” was stellar!! He sang his own songs, sang his daddy’s songs, and sang some of his mentors and heroes songs. I couldn’t ask for more—simply and purely one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. ALL HELL YEAH!!

Just recently viewed it. The little woman aksed me who the dude 'splainin' the blues was @ the beginning. I told her it was the dude that wrote Death Letter. She went, "ain't that the White Stripes song?" I went, "did you pay attention to what he was sayin'?"

    Rustoffa,

Who is that singin' I Ain't Superstitious?

I found a version of that tune by the mighty White Stripes...and finally found their versions of House Of The Risin' Son and Isis live...and some tune about walking with a ghost...
