Douglas T, that's another killer gem from your collection. Thanks for all the stuff you've put up lately.

That's Charlie Rose interviewing Dave there and he is, in my opinion, the best interviewer out there. I watch his show from time to time at night and every one of his guests feels comfortable with him and they all open up more than with any other interviewer.

Notice the difference back in the day. Dave had so much more confidence in himself and he knew he had that vibe that was very laid back and appealing. In today's world, he laughs at his own jokes and everything seems forced. I got to tell you, Roth really was the king twenty plus years ago. I hate to say it, but nowadays he really is almost cartoonish with that shit-eating grin. I still think he rocks but leaving Van Halen was the biggest mistake he ever made and I believe he regrets that decision every day. No way did he think Van Halen would be successful without him. I can't stand Van Hagar but as big as they were when Roth left, and carrying on the Van Halen name, you and I could have sang on 5150 and sold 5 million plus. I gurantee that if the band name would have changed when Sammy came aboard, Roth would have been back in the fold by 1990 under the Van Halen moniker. Van Hagar had the advantage of keeping the name. Roth really took a nose dive over the years and the interviews he gives now are pretty tough to watch. The Craig Ferguson interview is as good as it'ds going to get. And that hurts to say it.

I liked the way things turned out. Sure the 1996 reunion could've been kick ass, but we would've missed out on what he has done since then.
Plus did we really want to see a Van Halen tour in 2004 with Dave having to hold Ed up on stage..propping his chair with pillows?

You guys need to relax. All I'm saying is that Dave and Van Halen both went downhill after they split. Eat em and Smile was a great start but for anybody to say that was better then the first six VH records is crazy. Your Filthy little mouth was a joke as well as Diamond Dave. Anyways, I'll still rock hard with Roth and support all his albums but it sucks that he is pretty much regarded as a joke to the mainstream. Even a VH reunion now wouldn't work due to EDDIE'S SORRY STATE. The boat passed ten years ago and even Dave in 1996 was a little off the wall with that fuckin get-up he wore at the award show and that stupid ass hat. In 2002, that fucker blew Hagar off the stage every night and Roth was ready to go then. His shows that year were awesome and I seen him in 1999, 2001, 2002, 2004 and 2005. I just wish that during his interviews he wouldn't act like a jack-ass and laugh at everything he says. Roth is a world traveler that has probably seen it all and lived to tell about it. Calm down a little on those interviews and relax. The respect from the general mainstream will come back. It's more like people are laughing at him then with him and that is sad because he's 51 not 31. I personally think he kicks ass but the majority mainstream does not anymore. Kill me if you want but that's my opinion and I'll be front and alittle off center at the July 1st show at Summerfest. Roth n Roll.

Your right, maybe a little too negative on dave but the point I was trying to make was more a dig on Van Hagar then anything else. I personally don't mind the Dave of 2006 but can't you see the general public lampoons the guy. Even my co-workers were giving me a hard time.

What I'm saying is that Dave solo is better then anything Van Hagar offered up. It's just that Dave solo is below par to anything he did with Van Halen. Eat Em and Smile was good but not great. Diver Down takes it down. I just think Dave needs to lay off the coke before those interviews. That smile is a little scary. Dave did a WB live interview that's posted at diamonddavidleeroth.com and that turned out awesome. That's the vibe he needs to project.
