SAMMY HAGAR Says THE OTHER HALF Is Better Than VAN HALEN - June 8, 2006

Launch Radio Networks reports: Sammy Hagar is doing double duty while on tour this summer. He's playing a full set with his band the WABORITAS, and he's also doing a full-on VAN HALEN performance with THE OTHER HALF, which includes VAN HALEN bassist Michael Anthony and WABOS guitarist Vic Johnson and drummer David Lauser. Hagar told Launch that Michael Anthony has been liberated by this move, and he also said THE OTHER HALF is better than VAN HALEN right now. "He's kinda been chopped up over the years, you know, so now we took all those pieces that have been chopped up from different tours and put 'em all together, and he does this awesome bass solo," Sammy said. "And then we bust into about 10-12 VAN HALEN songs. For the hardcores that gotta have it, we're gonna give you THE OTHER HALF's version, which is basically closer to the record than (laughs) what the last VAN HALEN tour was, unfortunately."

The next stop for Hagar and company is tomorrow (Friday, June 9) at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Selma, Texas.

Several hours before each show on the tour, Hagar sets up a Cabo Wabo village that has food, drinks, mariachi bands, karaoke, and other diversions.

The garage band in my neighborhood sounds better than VH did on the 2004 tour, so Sam is probably accurate there. What I take from this is Mike is finally fed up with the sisters. With Dave calling out Ed just about anywhere he can, & Mike touring with Sam as Van Halen, Ed just might say fuck everybody...forever. The gap between all of these guys is turning into the Grand Canyon.

Sammy, if your band is so hot, why isn't it producing hit songs of it's own. Plus Van Halen without Eddie or Roth is not even worth bragging about.

I can understand Dave singing the classic set its some of the best

Sammy's always revised history to suit his purposes, so nothing new there. But anyone who's actually seen or heard boots from the Velveetapalooza 2004 shows knows he's not exaggerating about how bad Eddie was.

I'll be the first to say Eddie played like a madman on the VDIII tour. Not enough to make me want to buy a ticket and watch Cherone ballet and finger-fuck his ass across the stage, but enough to make me hope for a REAL tour with the right singer.

As much as I hate to say it, the Ched Rocker's probably right about the Velveetareetas sounding better than Van Hagar '04.

Not that I plan on finding out.

Dave is getting alot of Press RIGHT NOW! So, think about it....

DAVE's press holds more weight than SAMMY's belly right now, and Sam feels like his tour has been defused by the noise at the ROTH end....

SAM is simply full of hot air and trying to create a heatwave about "The Other Half" tour due to ROTH publicity overpowering.
