    Couple of nice screams...

Backing vocals are way weak, but Roth has always had problems with his backing bands turning in decent background vocals live, particularly after Sheehan left...

I mean, it's Cali Girls. Not my fave Dave cover, and I could give a shit if I ever heard it again, but what exactly 'sux' about it, Elvis?

Weak backing vocals? They were down right SHIT. The band sounded like they were all over the place. Dave also had some vocal issues from what I heard. Unfortunately, the date of this doesn't leave to much room for his voice to recover. I am having more doubts about this Eddie/Dave collaboration in 2007?

Yeah, the backing vocals were pretty much shit, agreed...

Dave would be able to pull off a CVH reunion just fine, though. Won't be 1981 all over again or anything, but in terms of the whole package (showmanship, master of ceremonies, some kicks here and there, some lewd and humorous stage banter), he's more than up to the task.

With Elvis on this one...that was yeeesh...heard better attempts at the bar out of drunks doing karaoke...I mean, Dave's Dave...he's cool in the lower registers, but he sounds out of sorts quite often, and the bands all over the fuckin' place...

In all honesty, not a good performance at all.

Not a great performance . Imagine how many times he's had to sing that fuckin tune. And for a bunch of Arkansas bumpkins at a fair on a Saturday night . He's doin what he's always done. Skip through the little bits and hit you with the goods. Bet yer ass he was "on" for New York & L.A.

    That was terrible!
I just hope that they do 2 tracks at RRHOF and out, no tour as vids like this would just kill any cvh legend status etc.

As i have said before even Dave can't live up to Dave anymore.
Plus he has never given a fuck about looking after his voice and is now paying the price......Shame as a massive payday could have been around the corner.

I vote for RRHOF and out!

Dave's goofing off... he sounds alright to me. He's just not delivering a 'serious' performance, that's all. The backup singers should be SHOT! Twice!

I've seen worse recordings... this one's pretty decent, especially on the image part, but the sound ain't that much.

All in all, I have some times cringed at Dave singing live, but this isn't one of those times. He's pretty good there.

    Damn closet Hagaritas...

    Cheers! :bottle:

You cant judge the sound from a shit ass video camara anyways. The back ups were a little weak but I am sure it sounded 10 times better live. I think Dave was sounding great. You can sit and playback any video from any band from any live performance and there will always be a little flaw or two you can pick out. Fuck it! Thats live baby! I think it was great.

Don't judge Dave by this performance. As has been mentioned, it was fucking Arkansas! Who the fuck plays concerts in Arkansas? The Oakridge Boys? I mean come on folks, cut Dave some slack.

Dave's not going to embarrass himself and kill the VH legacy, if CVH does tour they will workout the background vocals.

Maybe we could have an intervention for Bass Player, you know, deprogram him from his love fest for Spam so he can come back to CVH.

Actually, Dave, the greatest frontman ever playing at the Arkansas State Fair is embarrassing in itself.

True, but maybe his tour bus broke down, and he ran into Bill Clinton or one of the Waltons, and they said, "hey, while your here, we have $50,000 for the guy willing to take one for the team and play our state fair."

I could see Dave and Bill out looking for chicks together.

It is kinda weird seeing him playing at smaller venues and various Ribfests/State Fairs around the country, but I don't sweat that Arkansas performance at all, 'cuz I caught the dude last summer and he was just fine live. MaddVibe and Douglas T would back me up on that.

Besides, CVH ain't gonna be playing Cali Girls live anyway should they get back together, and just the adrenaline of playing with them in large arenas would give Roth all the edge and motivation he needs to push himself harder than he was at that gig.

No offense Elvis, but the whole premise of the thread is a tempest in a teacup to me.
