Perhaps Mike is refusing to accept the terms he's being offered. Could be holding out for a fairer deal. Particularly if he knows promoters are demanding that he be a part of any tour. But who knows.
There are still far more positives about all this anyway. Sammy Hagar is history with this band FINALLY!!! Dave and Eddie, one of the all time great partnerships in rock n' roll, will be working together again. We will likely get to hear those "killer" tracks from the 2000 sessions on a box set or new album, AND did I mention no more Hagar?

Hope they begin with Madison Square Garden.....I'm so there!!!!
Goodbye casinos and House of Blues venues!
Velvet Revolver opening for Van Halen......imagine that! Would pull a huge crowd. And I'm sure Sebastian Bach would love to be on the bill. As far as big names go, I'm not sure if Motley Crue, Aerosmith, or Axel's GnR would go for "support band" status.

First with the bad, it doesn't look like Mike is willing to be a part of this as of right now. Things however are not set in stone. He is leaning to sticking with Sammy.
Now for the good news. Its pretty much a done deal now with Dave coming back. Wolfie as of now is in Van Halen. Like I said last week, they are absolutley ripping through the old material like crazy.
I have seen it personally and I can't believe that a kid his age has the chops he has, and not just on the bass.
I really think people will be very impressed by this and the doubters will become believers. Sad about Mike, but its not the worst thing to happen, trust me.
Does Ed have no understanding of what the fans want? Ifhe is going to insist on going out on the Cash Grob 06 tour one would think he would put the most lucrative package possible together.
I think the truth about Anthony is that he is refusing to work for the $5 an hour sideman rate he agreed to in 04 just for the privilege of spending months on the road with a drunken control freak and DLR. This way Eddie gets to say Mike said no and prevents him from looking like an ass while putting cash into Wolfgang's account.
How long do you really think Eddie will put up with the press criticizing his kid? Whether its his weight, his playing or just the fact that he is not Mike Anthony it will happen early and often. How long will Roth put up with anyone paying attention to anyone but him?

Simply, without Mike, there is no real reunion!
Yeah but 3/4 of the original with an additional Van Halen blood line added to the line up could be better...
Im optimistic.
I figure Dave and Ed tearing it up on stage is better than Dave solo and Ed with Sham... Or worse- Gary.
"FUCK YOU, YOU FUCKIN' BITCH! WHO THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE ANYWAYS? TALK TO ME LIKE THAT? FUCK YOU. DRAG QUEEN LOOKIN' WHORE- YOU AINT SHIT. YOUR THE FRECKLE TO THE LEFT OF MY BROWN EYE. NOW GO MAKE YOURSELF USEFUL...OH, PUT DAD ON THE PHONE"

I don't know if Ed really cares what the fans want. Based on what we've all heard (rumors/inside info/etc.),
Wolfie LOVES the first 6 albums and can play a mean bass...Ed HATES Mike and has talked of replacing him for decades...
in Eddies mind, this is a no-brainer...kick Mike out, put Wolfie in. I want Mike to be there, as much as anyone else here...
but, from Mike's standpoint, if he was offered the gig, I can't blame hime for turning it down or holding out for a better offer.
He's been boned by Eddie for years now...and it's only gotten worse and worse...not to mention, he'd be all alone in this deal...NO allies whatsoever!!

Mike would be the most dumbest person on the planet for not wanting to be a part of a potential MASSIVE BIG $$$$ Tour with CVH.
Fuck, Sammy has really messed with his head.
ITS FUCKING HAGAR'S FAULT THAT WE'LL PROBABLY NEVER GET A FULL CVH REUNION!!!
they fucked up everything about promotion in 2004....keeping it secret and then...coming up with half assed statements wondering why nobody went ballistic...
where were the big fanfares? press conferences? just nothing...some rehearsel-clips on MTV and that was it...I guess, ed refused to do anything for the public...the "I am no rockstar"-attitude...let the music speak...we don't need any promotion...
feed the beast, baby...just let dave do it...
