Enjoy You Tube while you still can

NEW YORK — Billionaire investor and dot-com veteran Mark Cuban had harsh words on Thursday for YouTube, the online site that lets people share video clips, saying only a "moron" would purchase the wildly popular start-up.

Cuban, co-founder of HDNet and owner of the NBA's Dallas Mavericks, also said YouTube would eventually be "sued into oblivion" because of copyright violations.

"They are just breaking the law," Cuban told a group of advertisers in New York. "The only reason it hasn't been sued yet is because there is nobody with big money to sue."

I love You Tube. I thought I had seen all the old footage of classic VH but there's more out there than I had known about and thanks to You Tube, I could see it.

I always wondered why there were no lawsuits yet. But hey, we aren't talking great video qualtiy and maybe that's a factor.

    That's a shame, really.

Aside from the music and concert footage that we'd never be able to see otherwise, typing in "Barry Sanders" or "Bo Jackson" will provide an afternoon's worth of highlights for us sports-nuts as well.

The corporations are starting to have their way with You Tube. They don't need to sue anybody because the minute they say anything, YouTube yanks the video. Apparently they also have flags in their database which prevents some videos from being uploaded in the first place. And I'm not talking porno or other "questionable" content here either. For example, if your video contains the words "Saturday Nite Live" or even the abbreviation "snl", don't expect it to be up for very long.

Read his post again, Mr. Christian....

You Tube and many many more clones will indeed flourish......but you'll have to pay to view/download complete clips.

Meanwhile underground sites will cuntinue to pop up.....

Fuck Mark Cuban and his lame-ass Dallas Mavericks! A lot of damn independent musicians and comedians need a place to show their work, especially since the fuckin TV pricks won't let em on the air. Plus there are a lot of major label artists who allow they're videos to be shown.

Question is, who else would benefit from the shutdown?
Why settle for something you have, if it's not as good as something you're out to get?

    Nobody.

It would no longer be able to be corrupted for use by the corporations.

The former users and viewers of YouTube would be infuriated.

Those responsible (The MPAA and/or RIAA) would suffer sever backlash from consumers.

    The usual corporate model:

If it is successful, either a) Stamp it out and kill it, or b) buy it out and either kill it or dilute it enough to make big profits, while losing it's original integrity and potential (see MTV).

For now it is the wild frontier. Pornotube can host all the x-rated and other stuff.

Yeah, I see where you're going.

The BCE and the whore media benefit anytime that an alternative media source is neutralized.

Not long ago, there was a guy who posted archival news footage from 9-11-01 on youtube.com Technically, the footage is the property of the networks who filmed it, but god damn it, this is the only existing record of a mass murder that was committed, not just against the American people, but the entire planet, as there were residents of many other countries in the World Trade Center.

To pull those videos in the name of corporate "intellectual property" is total BULLSHIT.

The fact is, if you have the complete footage, you have the evidence that the BCE official story doesn't add up.

And THAT is the real problem with those videos being online.
