Freddie... you could almost call him a metal singer. You'll often see or hear of Queen's early work being called heavy metal. An awesome lead singer for a band that did some heavy metal work, really. Does it make him a metal singer? No, but he's more metal than a lot of the names on that list. :-)

I can also pass Daltrey simply because he would have directly INFLUENCED a lot of metal singers. I realise that doesn't make him a heavy metal singer, and the Who were never a heavy metal band (they did lay some of metal's foundations, though), but it's one way of justifying his inclusion.

Hagar above Roth? That was obviously done to stir up Van Halen fans. Most of the non-metal names are there to create controversy and, hopefully (in the editors' eyes), sales. It's such a cheap tactic. Typical magazine list.

The Media's perceptions are always bad and there needs to be a definitive way to categorize music. Most use a broad definition and there is just to many descriptives of type of music today.

03. Steven Tyler (I say pop rock, was hard rock early but not heavy or metal)

04. Chris Cornell (plain rock)

05. Bon Scott (hard rock)

06. Freddie Mercury (classic rock or hard rock, never metal)

07. Bruce Dickinson (Metal)

08. Ozzy Osbourne (depends on the year, heavy metal, hard rock, classic rock)

09. Paul Rodgers (see Freddy Mercury and same applies to when was in Bad Company)

10. Ronnie James Dio (Metal, hard rock)

11. Axl Rose (Metal, hard rock)

12. Sammy Hagar (Hard rock, classic rock, pop rock)

13. Geddy Lee (claasic rock, hard rock)

14. Geoff Tate (QueenRyche is one of those bands that fall in between categories of Metal and hard rock and is hard to place)

15. Mick Jagger (fag)

16. Jonathan Davis (Korn sets its own category, this is a crossover hybrid band which kick ass)

Eliminate those that cannot remember their lines and say nothing but 'comeon fuck'rs, yahhhh' in concert and cannot remember lyrics (Oz), those that changed their music to a new category outside metal(downgraded) (Roth, Tyler), those that cannot finish their tours and are plain ole fuck cakes (Rose) and those that do not sing anymore or are really not quite metal (Dio, Tate)

Maiden still rocks and Dickinson still runs around and is vocalized perfection, Halford is gay but always has been metal and created the wearing of leather we see on every metal artist today.All the rest on the list are not Metal. They fall below the top rungs of Metal into the hard rock genre or below. Sorry all you DLR fans but Dave is not metal and my opinions do not reflect that I hate any vocalist on the list, they just dont belong. I provide examples of the two remaining.

Now lets make there list for them and help each other out by giving a reason why they should be in the metal category or helping to eliminate our own choices. I will start by add Dave Mustaine, James Hetfield. Singers in the new category, the hybrids, that hasnt been yet defined do not count. Those include the likes of Jonathan Davis, Marilyn Manson, de la Rocha.
