Its funny that every time i used to think of 1984 i always though of electric keyboards but there is only two tracks which use keyboards. So what demo song that you have heard over the years would better suit the album?
1984 minus jump and I'll Wait

I wouldn't change a thing to be honest.
Jump may be played to death but I still love it, puts a smile on my face every time.
I'll Wait was a sign of Ed changing, but I love the idea of Dave flipping through a magazine and picking out his future fucks!!The Power Of The Riff Compels Me -
Fuck That.
I'll leave the album just way it is. Altough i do believe the tune; 1984 Suck."With a rate of fire of over 20 rounds per second, the IMI Micro Uzi is almost as fast as Yngwie Malmsteen, and 25.4 times more musical"
Worst of all... It's true..Comment

I like 1984 the way it was released.
So I wouldn't change a thing.TT: Wow, you can play acoustic guitar?
EVH: Sure. What's the difference? It's got six strings... It's a guitar! (31.12.1978)Comment

I might leave "Jump", but I definitely would have cut "I'll Wait" and included "Big Trouble" which was recorded for the album, but not released.Eat Us And Smile

I know I'm one of the very few but I've ALWAYS loved "I'll Wait." Also, "Jump" 'tis a staple and (unfortunately) VH's biggest single. They should've dumped the "1984" intro. Also, I've never been a fan of either "Top Jimmy" nor "Girl Gone Bad." Dunno why, just have never liked either? That goes back to buying the album when it was first released. Then again, I LOVE "Diver Down" and again, bought it when it was first released. It's just a fun album. Could definitely do without "Dancing in the Street" but hey, it's STILL fucking VAN HALEN so shutup!! lol. Kind of amusing that it STILL manages to get airplay on any given "Classic" rock and roll radio station.
Anyway and back to the original question, I'd love to have had "Big Troubles" redone and rerecorded much in the same vein as "House of Pain" was. Although I love the original version of HOP, the lyrics are kind of Dio'ish and when Dave belts out that PAIN part, I tend to chuckle.
Also, I wish they'd have thrown on "In The Midnight Hour" like they had planned and apparantly recorded. I think that would have been an ALL TIME epic Van Halen cover song!!!
