Depeche Mode release download-only 'box set'

Depeche Mode release download-only 'box set'

The career-spanning collection features 644 tracks
Depeche Mode have announced the release of a massive download-only "box set".

The career-spanning retrospective, appropriately titled 'The Complete Depeche Mode', is available now for download on US iTunes.

Following on the heels of a more modest 'Best Of' collection released last November, the mega-retrospective contains 644 tracks.

The set features all 11 of their studio albums, all of their singles and B-sides, and two live albums, as well as rare and previously unreleased material.

In addition to album tracks it features rare and deleted recordings, 19 digital-only remixes, and previously unreleased rehearsal recordings. It comes packaged with a 62-page downloadable booklet featuring images by renowned photographer Anton Corbijn.

Depeche Mode released their first single in 1981, and have spent more than 400 combined weeks on the UK charts.

Give me a box set that can't be "accidentally" deleted.

It will be a cold day in Hell before I pay for lossy vaporware.

I don't like this trend at all. Maybe I'm the only one in America who doesn't own a fucking I-pod yet, but I'd rather buy a REAL box set (though not necessarily Depeche Mode) and rip it to whatever portable digital device myself.

I don't own an I-Pod either. I like about two Depeche Mode songs. Can't see having 644 tracks of theirs.

Sounds like either a gimmick or a way around trying to get a record company to invest in manufacturing something tangible...because outside of the UK, well, let's face it, a Depeche Mode box set of that size isn't going to sell well.

Yeah they were big in the UK.

Over the years I've met quite a few rock fans who had a guilty secret about being DM fans.

I'm not one of then though..

After "Violator", they started getting mellower... "Songs of Faith and Devotion" is a good one but the ones after are too "downer" for me.

Every concerts of them I've seen was full of (straight) guys...
Eaven if they would call the band members "fags" and all!

When the place is filled with women (in heat because of Dave Gahan's moves), dancing and shaking ass... guys get into it and the beat takes over!

I remember dancing and screaming like crazy at those concerts...
The energie that takes place is as powerful as the one of a Rock concert!
