    Ticket traders

Um, has anyone ever seen one of those "Ticket Trader" websites? Well, I have and they're very cool.

**Disclaimer, I do not know the legal aspects of the site I'm about to describe. So if someone decides to set one up then it would do them well to check with their local and state authorities about this even-so-much as to consider hiring an attorney first."

The site that I saw was a buy/sell/or trade site. Very primative but very good. You picked the venue and date that you were interested in going to, and looked at listings of tickets available by either buy/sell/or trade depending what the ticket holder was preferring. Each ticket was listed by username and included seating details.

If you see a ticket that you're interested in, you click the username and you're taken to a screen where you fill out a request to have the ticket holder to contact you. Any transactions are taken place through email, telephone, or other personal contact between the buyer and the seller. Nothing takes place on the website other than the trading of messages of interest.

    Kinda cool, huh?

    Not Stub Hub.
You can do your transactions on there and there is a fee added.

The site I'm talking about was run by a regular person and no advertisement of the site was ever made anywhere but in the band's forum board.

It was regular people like you and me exchanging messages of interest in tickets people had or wanted. If you had tickets but wanted something closer, you could list your tickets and people could browse to see if you had something they wanted.

The only rules were that you had to agree not to sell the tickets above face value. If you traded with someone you had to replace the difference if the other person requested you to do so.

I know Ross Halfin & Neil Zloz.... are covering this tour.
They will be issued with press & VIP pass + and a few guest passes that they can give to whoever.

So best start sending nice emails to them.

So it's like a cyberspace transfer station for amateur scalpers, with a trade option thrown in to keep it semi-legit?

    Nobody is scalping anything.
It's a way for people to get tickets from people who already have them but can't go or just want to trade for better seats.

It's a way to NOT deal with scalpers.

Geez....this thread was a sheer waste of time.

Forget I said anything at all.

You're looking at 40 dates. That's it. One or two in your own immediate area. If you're willing to deal with scalpers, or chase Ticketbastard just to end up with nosebleeds....more power to ya.

I just thought since the tickets are going to be so few and the demand for this tour would be so HIGH, that maybe some genius would take this idea and run with it.

Fuck it. The first show's in my home state, I'm sure to get a ticket.
Why should I give a damn anyway.

    Smooch HR babe.

Scalpers have gotten real creative in the passed couple of years with high-value shows. They've actually begun to pay homeless people to stand in ticket lines for days before the shows go on sale. The homeless are given the money to buy the tickets and then get a small pennance once they have purchased the tickets.

Then the tickets end up on websites offering them for sale at an incredible mark-up.

It got so bad at the U2 shows that U2 actually got wind of it.

Also, Ticketbastard releases seats in "blocks". They don't always sell all of the front seats in the first "block". As the show gets closer, they try to fill up as many of the up-front seats as they can if they haven't already so the artists won't see a ton of empty seats in the first few rows. So it's highly likely that someone buying a ticket when the window opens will get a seat in Tier 2 while someone walking to the window the day of the show gets a 6th row seat.

This web site thingy is a great way for ordinary ticket holders (NOT LOOKING TO SCALP) to get in touch with other ordinary ticket holders and circumvent some of the bullshit that has become live show tickets.

Katie, with all due respect....but I have no desire to meet or otherwise co-hort with any of the band members or their entourage. And I'm certainly not kissing some "employee's" ass just to get a ticket.

Heck that stuff has been going on for years.

In a lot of places it IS legitimate to scalp tickets. The main rule seems to be it is illegal to sell them on venue property.

In L.A. there are ticket brokers everywhere.

Hey I was not homeless, but if I was going to a high-profile show, I would always buy as many tickets as I could afford, so I could sell them to a ticket broker to pay for the ticket I wanted to keep.

I saw Runs & Goses at the Forum on the last night of a 7-night stand. I bought 4 tickets intending to sell 3, but my roommate won a great pair of tickets from a radio station, so I was able to sell all 4 to a ticket broker and I made some grate money....which ended up going to bills and food haha.

Yes....you never know which blocks of tickets are on sale at any given time.

A great way to get killer seats is go to the box office at the venue right before showtime...heck, or even after the show is started. Then you can sometimes get tickets for that people had reserved but never showed up to pick up.

    Oh well.

And I have enjoyed their fabulous seats many times.

6th row center stage Fleetwood Mac at half price was the best yet.
Stevie's still gorgeous even though she had her little orthopedic shoes on.

And that's actually a good thing as far as I'm concerned.

I am too old to act like an ignorant groupie, or a desperate star fucker. Or is that a desperate groupie, and an ignorant star fucker?

    Cool...it's accurate both ways!
