A classic photo. I remember seeing this pic when I was 10. I was already a fan. i remember thinkin ,these guys are truely badass. They could've been bigger than The Stones or The Who. They were blowing these bands off the fuckin stage when they opened for them.
Curse you Aerosmith for not buying that fuckin plane. Think about it. Aerosmith could've finished at the top of their game and we would never have had to be tortured with their cheesy soundtrack ballads.
Trolls take heed...LOG OUT & FUCK OFF!!!

Skynryd were a good studio band but on this live album you can almost smell the cigarettes, booze and joints in the auditorium.
Not just Skynryd`s best but one of the best EVER.

I picked Street Survivors, but the 76 live album would have beena good choice too...
Steve Gaines kicked that band up a notch. Not such an easy thing to do for a group already kicking ass before he joined.
Scramby eggs and bacon.
I voted "other"
First one i bought myself...
Gold & Platinum - 1979
BRILLIANT BAND
Take me down to Memphis town, busdriver get me there
I got me a queenie she got longbrown curly hair
She likes to drink Old Grandad and her shoes do shuffle around
And everytime I see that gal
Lord she wants to take me down
I'd have to go with "Nuthin' Fancy." The production is arguably the slickest, due to Ronnie punching people in the face alot during the process. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think those sessions also produced a quote from Ronnie that Mr. Young refers to occasionally:
"Rock And Roll came from the south....next question."
Any album with Simple Man.
"If anyone came here hoping to hear Sammy Hagar Van Halen, there's the fucking door, man!" Ralph Saenz, Atomic Punks
"Carpe Mammarium"
I used to love Skynyrd, but now I can hardly stand them. Classic rock radio has ruined them for me. I could go the rest of my life and not hear Freebird or Sweet Home Alabama again and be happy with it.
I got the box set years ago which took care of that problem for me.....
A TON of hidden gems that never get played on the radio.............
Allen Collins, Bob Burns, Ronnie Van Zant, Leon Wilkeson, and Gary Rossington at Funocchio's in Atlanta, July 21, 1972. Six months later Lynyrd Skynyrd released their first album. At shows like this Al Kooper would usually be seen hanging out in the back of the room.
ha!
Play it perty for Atlanta!
Where's Linda lou?

Damn, Freebird was trippy!
*bump*
because most of the crap in the other threads sucks...
I accidentally saw Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1999. They were out opening for ZZ Top.
I was so bored. I could not WAIT for them to get done.
If I never hear them again it will be too soon.
Partly it is due to the Southern Hick vibe of "Southern Rock".
Imagine if at the beginning of Deliverence, they gassed up at a gas station where the inbred retard on the porch was playing a Gibson Explorer.
Blame radio for it. While I cannot deny the quality of the material they produced, (and I certainly feel they deserve every bit of praise they receive) I got so fucking sick of hearing their goddamned shit every day.......even now, the classic rock radio stations have to play their stuff constantly. Certainly here in Gnashville.
I wish they would go away.
I have had two friends who worked for them in the early 70s. One of them (on the sound crew) was on the plane when they went down and has a steel plate in his head as a result. They initially thought he was dead.
Jimi Hendrix once said something like "You only get really famous when you are dead...once you are dead you are set for life!"
This certainly applies to Skynrd.
Too bad about the crash. Nobody should have to go through that.
But, in a nutshell, they are not my cup o' tea.
