Howard Stern would be a much better choice.
No other well-known person has as much coincidental history with Van Halen - besides the actor that played "Schnider" on One Day At A Time(who also slept with Valerie).

Van Halen were a way of life, and were "the peoples' choice", much like Stern. Just as Howard never won a single award for radio, despite crafting the entire medium of modern day talk radio and being a catalyst for reality tv/radio, Van Halen will NEVER win a Grammy, despite their sound and spirit forging an entire decade's worth of music and spawning one immitator after another.

Howard is the obvious and perfect choice, and would be a refreshing departure from the TIRED R&R H/F cliche of having a vaguely simlar, younger, shittier, shadow of the musician(s) being inducted induct the awardee.

Long story short, Kid Rock BLOWS. I mean, if it's him, why not Poison?? They are the same damn thing.

Besides Vinny, Uncle Ted would be my next choice.
