I voted for Jeff. I hesitated between him and Jimi.
Well, here's my take:
Composition:
1. Page
2. Hendrix
3. Beck
4. Clapton
Technique:
1. Beck
2. Hendrix
3. Page
4. Clapton
Genius:
1. Hendrix
2. Page
3. Beck
4. Clapton
Legacy:
1. Hendrix
2. Page
3. Beck
4. Clapton
Fun:
1. Beck
2. Hendrix
3. Page
4. Clapton
Oh? I rank Clapton last each time... Sorry.
BTW, this thread sure is bound for name calling!

page and clapton
they both suck in equal measures imo
page copied beck
clapton doesn't have the skill or imagination to copy beck or hendrix
my choice ?
a legend in the 60's with truth , hendrix even copied him !
brian may and dave gilmour both call him a genius , nuff said
in other words
THE MAN™
Jeff's the king as far as playing, I think. As for composing, it's another matter IMO.
Jimmy Page is obviously THE composer in the 4. Hendrix isn't very far behind. Clapton has always stuck to established structures.
That said, Hendrix sure was the one who did more than all the others together with his recordings and gigs - who sincerely did just half of what he achieved on, let's say, but one record?
Jeff FUCKING Beck!
Flappo.. that pic of him is one of the coolest I've seen.

eddie always used to give eric props then moved to page
imo he should move to beck , who really IS his natural modern inspiration
eddie has become experimental !!!
Jeff Beck is the man!!!!

interesting
JIMMY PAGE is the Wagner of rock guitar....
The 4 faces on the Mount Rushmore of rock guitar.......
JIMI blazed the path...nobody was playing like that before him....
Clapton invented White Boy Blues Rock with the Beano record...and CREAM was the first rock Power trio....
Beck...the dark horse....a mad genius...with more technique than the others combined....he could have been the GRATEST rock musician of all...but...his love of hotrods wouldn't be denied.......

Jeff Beck. The worlds most dangerous guitarist. Period
Clapton is the bottom of the heap for me too. Claptons playing has never made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Never saw what all the hoopla was about him.
Could yo imagine if Christopher Guest decided to base Nigel Tufnel on E.C ? Boooorrring........
Cool stuff from one of my favourite beck era's

Most of Beck's stuff was done with that old Tele, and the knob @ 6. No effects, no nothing. It's a stark contrast to Page's work on his multi-faceted Les Paul. Clapton's just a blues fucker...Mayall has touted Mick Taylor over basically anyone that's played with him. SRV was a great guitar player, and did an admirable job of covering Hendrix. He couldn't have covered Beck.
Jeff Beck's crazy....I wish he'd smash John Mayer in the face with a fiberglass Airline.

Although I agree John Mayer should should be smashed in the face.
I voted Hendrix, legends live forever.
However, I can easily live with Beck walking this. I've been listenind to his 60s and 70s work a lot recently, and it blows my mind. He really is excpetional, and everyday seems to be his best day.
If anyone votes for Claptout, there's something wrong with you....

Jeff Beck all the way. I saw one of the ARMS shows in 84 or 85 in Dallas and saw all 3 play, and JB blew away Clapton and Page. Been a huge fan ever since and and have caught him live several times.
His biggest knock, and he knows it, is he couldn't get an established singer and record songs that would get continued airplay over the years.

Let's up the ante. How 'bout Ry Cooder, Jeff Beck, Jack White, and John Mayer all agree to a jam session @ the perverbial crossroads.
Would Mayer piss his pants, and sing about waiting on the world to change?
What if Randolph wandered in with his pedal steel?
I pick Eric Clapton. Jimi's playing while great never really stands up to my attention, Jimmy Page's playing just gets really boring to my ears after a while, and Jeff Beck's playing I can't comment on since I haven't really listened to his playing.
Eric on the other hand just works for me in terms of style, songs, and feel. The guy's got heart and soul. It's just a fucking shame that when you listen/watch some of the stuff he did in the 70's/80's that he just played rhythm to George Terry's lead! What the fuck was with that? Was he that insecure about his talent (like many claim) that he had to hide behind another guitarist so he didn't win guitar hero-like accolades? Doesn't make any damn sense to me at all.

"I've once gone to Eric's show. I was there for 30 minutes and got out. I couldn't stand it any more!" - Jeff Beck
guitarist knows guitarist eh?

How are the Truth and Beck-ola albums? I was thinking about getting those along with Blow by Blow, Guitar Shop, and Rough and Ready.
Beck-Hloa is the perfect "non-manic" record to purchase.Originally posted by DeadMan1984

"You Had It Coming" is fairly recent, and features all manner of loops and shit. Some bitch sings vocals on a Muddy Waters cover...just incredible.
Page and Clapton wouldn't attempt a recording like "You Had It Coming", 'cause they knew they had it coming.
Hendrix is dead.
"He really is the best, you know." - Eric Clapton, while watching Jeff Beck on a monitor backstage at the ARMS concert.

JIMI wrote the killer songs so did Page. It all comes down to the songs.
Beck fucking blows my mind, that bastard is STILL improving if that can be possible, but I think it comes down to the tunes.
Clapton? Can someone please explain to me why this guy is loved so much, I have never been able to get a handle on it. Total cunt to boot.

Beck, Hendrix and Page...tough, tough choice.
I like 'em all for different things.
Clapton doesn't even deserve to be in the same poll.

Stevie vs Beck would have been a tough call....
