Rough Cutt

I had the original tapes until I found this 2-album-on-1-CD type deal. Can't say the first half (album) did any good, but got into the uptempo "bad reputation" and "double trouble" off of "wants you."
Now, for some reason, I'm playing the ballads, "take a chance" and "the night cries out for you" more.

I haven't read the credits recently, but I seem to recall Ozzy and Sharon got these guys on their feet somehow or had something to do with the first album (half of the CD.)

I believe Ronnie & Wendy Dio helped 'em out early on Steve...not Ozzy.

Amir Derakh was one of thier guitar players.....

    He later played for Orgy.....

    LOL

I remembered them...knew a couple of dudes who thought they "rocked" back in the day....

Always a 3rd tier band...never hit the "Big Time"...

"This was the second custom Jackson I had made at the San Dimas factory while I was in Rough Cutt. It was used to record all my guitar parts on the debut album by Rough Cutt… It sounds amazing! For the paint design, I copied the skull logo off a Clash t-shirt, and the rest of the graphics were taken from WWII Flying Tiger’s P-40 fighter planes."

"This is one of my prized possessions! Made from spare parts from "The Bone Room" as they called it (they were actually seconds) at the San Dimas factory back in my Rough Cutt days. This guitar along with the "Swedish" were made at the same time as touring guitars for me. I painted it camouflage like a Navy fighter I was (and still am) into camo paint jobs….. This paint scheme became my signature style back then and has been reproduced & copied many times by Jackson Guitars. There is a copy of it in the Los Angeles Hard Rock Café under the bar! This guitar plays and sounds amazing! I used it on the second RC album "Wants You" and most recently played it at the RC reunion show."

    You're right... Ronnie & Wendy.

    Ozzy & Sharon...

hubby & wife team in the music biz... how many are there?

Am I right that the first album was produced by Tom Allom (Judas Priest.)

And I'm surprised anyone remembered them.

All I remember about them is that their lead singer Paul Shortino went on to front the "No Original Members so How the Fuck Can We Get Away With Using the Name and Isn't Randy Rhoads Spinning In His Grave Right Now?" lineup of Quiet Riot. Which sucked even worse than any of the DuBrow lineups.

I bought the first album, and it was lame. So I have no idea why I bought the Quiet Riot album with Shortino on vocals.

Quick bit o' trivia: Paul Shortino is in the classic movie This Is Spinal Tap. He plays Duke, who was playing the "Normo Dome", and managed by Howard Hessman (AKA Dr. Johnny Fever from WKRP). They meet him in the scene where they are booked into the hotel with only one suite instead of 7.

    Venge,

The 2nd album is much better. What was the hit single off the first again?

That would be a Slade cover "Cum On Feel The Noize". Have you been living under a rock for the past 20 years? That damn song is still everywhere

Way better. Blue Monday got way more airplay than any of the old Rough Cutt stuff, although you can still hear some Rough Cutt on XM Boneyard if you listen long enough

Seem to remember seeing them opening for someone in the mid 1980s, around the same point where a blitz in various guitar mags provided the general consensus that Amir Derakh was going to be the NEXT BIG THING...not very memorable in the long run.
