See, this video disproves the "Hagar was better because he could sing" point. This song is all about the attitude, delivery, and connection with the audience; nothing to do with vocal technical ability. Its like that you tube video of Celine Dion covering "You shook me all night long." (Link here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FONt47Z0KZg ) Sure, pretty voice, but NOTHING to do with the proper delivery of the song; it just doesn't rock! Say what you (you meaning those non-rocker ass-wipes that keep whining "oh his voice is too gravely" or "he doesn’t sing 45 octaves about high C like Hagar does") will about the lead singers that don’t have the vocal chops, but their presence, style, superb control, and mesmerizing an audience (Bon Scott, DLR, Ozzy, etc...) is what made groups like Van Halen rock out so hard, made you want to have a beer, and have such a rabid following from fans. And also why, when Hagar joined, its like....oh ho ho no, why GOD why??? And the non rockers going...*in that Barney fife voice* "But I like Van Halen better with Hagar ‘cuz’ he can sing" ~~~~Puh-leeze~~~~
Anyway, I know I'm preaching to the choir, and sorry to go so apeshit but I HATE that retarded reason of Hagar's-good-cuz-he-can-sing excuse, and this video broke the last straw of my mental camel’s back.
