I don't post too often but here's my take... There are few guitarists that are of Johnny Winter's calibre. This lineup in particular (The Johnny Winter And) was just incredible. My old guitar player told me a story that many, many years ago, he met the Winter brothers' father who told him "if you like my son Johnny, you oughtta meet my other son Edgar. Now he's got a HELL of a rock and roll outfit!!!" Priceless.

Big article in the last issue of Classic Rock magazine about how his former manager kept him totally out of it on heroin, methadone, and tranquilizers for the past 20 years. The bastard died a few years ago, and now there is a guy who was just a guitarist that worked with Johnny on an album, and took over his management.

He is touring the UK next month, and his new manager is rebuilding his career, and they are suing his former manager's estate for millions.

At one point when Johnny was getting weaned off the drugs, his manager called the doctor and screamed at him, telling him to put JW back on the drugs because he was asking too many questions....but the doctor was trying to get Johnny OFF the drugs.....

    Sad story....

Johnny rules....I saw him back in the 80s at a 2,000 seat ballroom.

Incredible. What a tale and how sad. It just shows that what Hunter S. Thompson said about the music business years ago is true today. Makes you wonder what is going on w/EVH at the moment. I'll have to read the story in Classic Rock.
