VH couldn't even pull off CVH after 1984.

Just cos they play a cover song badly doesn't mean they suck. Being a good rock and roll band isn't, believe it or not, all aboot paying tribute to other bands.

What do you think of the controversy?

WEILAND - Controversy seems to follow us. But I don't think of it as controversy necessarily because this band no matter which form it has been in has had such an amazing legacy, we were just so proud to come and induct them and perform a couple songs that we didn't give a fuck. Growing up and hearing songs on the radio, and hearing about those backyard parties - they were legendary. You hear about that shit from your older brothers and stuff. Growing up in LA, Van Halen was a band that not just rockers were into, but punk rockers were into and everyone was into. It sort of transcended all boundaries. They're a legendary band, so we were really quite honored.

What do you think of Eddie Van Halen's situation?

WEILAND - The guy is a fuckin' legend and he's been around for a long time, so he's a survivor. You got Keith Richards, you got Eddie Van Halen. Guys like that are cockroaches - you can't kill them.

What happened with David Lee Roth and you guys?

WEILAND - We were asked to perform, and kind of what happened was he wanted to sing the song "Jump". We felt from an artistic standpoint, and I'm being totally honest with you, that that wasn't a song that we felt comfortable with. We don't have keyboards, and we felt to bring a keyboard onstage wouldn't work for us. And we said we would do "Jamie's Cryin'" or "You Really Got Me", and he was adamant that that wasn't okay.

SCOTT ESSMAN - Mike, when you were in the clubs with Van Halen, did you have any idea that you'd be here, thirty years later?

MIKE - Not at all. You're working so hard and doing what you love to do, you don't even realize that things like this that are happening. What year did we win the Grammy? 1991? We were out touring, I think, when we did a small acceptance speech from on the road. You don't really look at it. We're out there doing just what we love doing. I mean, like right now, you look back, and some of the stuff they showed of me in the monitors, some of the early stuff, it's like I didn't think I grew old graciously.

Mike would it be Van Halen if they go on the road without you? You were a huge part of that band?

MIKE - They haven't yet.

I like VR too, but fuck, has anyone in the band ever heard ATBL? It was like a bunch of 4th graders trying to get through Mary Had a Little Lamb for the first time.

What's with Scott? I know he's fucked up from all the drugs, but damn, he sounded like he had a dick in his mouth while he was singing.
