Saddest Part Of Last Night

It was really sad...the REM induction was so powerful and their legacy is nothing by comparison to that of classic Van Halen.

I agree. That intro from VR was a steaming pile of shit. They didn't even want to be there. Fuck them. G&R and Slash hated L.A. music. VH was L.A. music. Hipocrit.

I disagree. REM has had a huge impact on music. Plus they've played a mentorship role in the lives of so many musicians.

Van Halen inspired a lot of people but they've always been their own thing - never part of a community the way REM have. I'm not saying that makes VH bad, but it's really an apples to oranges thing. Both have important legacies.

But yes, how sad. REM, as always, showed how things can be done with dignity and class. Sam and Mike showed how things can be done with selfishness and poor taste.

    Last night

The Van Halen induction sucked! Here is a band with a legacy and reputation that was reduced to shit. There was no real sentiment with VR, they looked and sounded like a bunch of dicks. All the other inducties had something to say that was relevent and inspiring, but VH was embaressing. Sammy and Mike really looked like they had their shit together though and maintain some sense of themselves, that was the only redeaming quality.

How long have we waited for Van Halen to be inducted? How many times have we speculated on how that would have to be the moment when Ed and Dave got together?

Well, here we are, it's happened. And here is the result:

    Sickening.

Is VH's legacy stronger than REM's??

I'd like to think so but I know it's not the case, especially worldwide.

REM are pretty well respected everywhere, where as to many VH is just another hair metal band: we might know it not to be true, but to most people that is the case.

Last night was a chance to remind those who had forgotten, and educate those who were too young to know, just how important and groundbreaking CVH was.

The saddest thing about last night was that Dave, Alex and Ed couldn't be bothered to turn up to help do that...

Ya, I liked R.E.M. last night. They were really good and Patti Smith was cool.. But the whole VR thing really did suck thats for sure. I really enjoy their music and it was just puzzling what Scott did with his voice . It was What the F**k , why is he singing like that. Oh well enough said.

Damn. I gotta back Mike up here. He was the only one who did the right thing: He showed up and played and said thanks to the fans. Dave, Ed and Al didn't do that. And Sam should have kept his ass at home like Gary C.

    Fuck it. Props to Mike.

On the Rock Hall website, I'll be damned if the interviewer backstage asked Bette Midler about her "F'kin Tequila" and his response was something like "It makes you feel really good.......and it makes you a Missionary" - then Bassplayer says "Oh, it makes you a Mish...Ahhhh..now I know why I drink that tequila".

Again...these guys, especially Bette Midler, trying to endorse her Tequila on Van Halen's big night.

And then it doesn't help when Velvet Revolver says Bette's Tequila is the best selling in the nation!

    PUKE.

Well I knew before this started that REM was going to steal the show VH is a waste of space and I'm sick of them. REM can still play, all 4 of them were right on and 1 of them hadn't played live in over 10 years. VR made a sickening speech, but what are they going to say? the two bands are completely different GnR became more popular in the late 80's and STP was a 90s band that IMO sucked big time. How VR can say they refuse to play a certain song for the person they are honoring is beyond me. Last time I checked there were about 15 people on stage including the letterman band who had keyboards. They couldn't play jump? Bullshit!!!!!

Wait a minute maybe VH and VR are very similar: both are thickheaded
